Excellent when will we see the next book
Very good story, lots of detailed actions with just enough twists and turns to keep your attention. Our moral values challenged at those extreme emotional times.

How can a horrendous situation get worse ...
Vicky is about to find how someone can unlikely cut their own throat satisfying their own greed. This story is about Vicky's attempt to liberat a planet, Oryol from some really vicious stupid people.I must admit that the story is a bit of a downer (dah). However Vicky must determine how to take down the bad guys with minimal loss of civilians. As usual the Author's characterization is excellent with clever dialog and humor when possible. I believe that there is more to tell in this series.I rate this 4 stars only because of the subject matter, everything else about this Author is excellent - enjoy.

perhaps it’s the sudden stop, not the drop hope for more ?
The Protagonist as she and the cohorts plan the “Butchers Bill” the quasi morality and sociological aspect (socialism) are provisional to helping Hubby’s acclamation to who’s standard reality often shift. I’m sad to see the end was not sappy.

Another book in the spinoff series from Kris Longknife.
Well written, well edited, well ebooked. Vicky's starting to learn how to run a constitutional monarchy. Lots of action, guns, and exceptionally bad bad guys.First sci fi book with trigger warning that was appropriate. Snowflakes should NOT NEVER EVER read this book.Ch 24: was should be wereCh 25 this goan should (i think) be his groin.

Well Written, well plotted, but just one more pea in a pod
I don't know if I'm becoming old, or jaded, or what. The book is well written, the character is engaging. She says all the right things and makes all the right moves. The book is a good way to spend a few hours of escape. But it's just on more series of space battles/space marines/space navy/space rangers/space pirates. At the start, it was fun to watch her develop from a spoiled courtesan into a human being through adversity, but now it's just"...will the lone wounded battleship hold against the might of the invading space pirates?". Of course, it will.

He was right.
This book has serious triggers for anyone who has been raped or tortured. Those events are central to Vicky's character development and new self-awareness.This book has some brutal hostage attempted rescue. While many are successful, some are not. This book maybe necessary and the good win. But this may be the most brutal book by him I have read.Obtw, I don't give 5 stars to anything that is not a Hugo/nebula winner. Excellent craft in writing here.

Vicky Peterwald takes over renegade planets...
Vicky Peterwald takes over planets that have been or are being conquered by the other half of her kingdom. Warning --some of the scenes contain violence against the males who revolted. Lots of violence--but not gratuitous-- It is necessary. Vicky really grows up in this book. I enjoyed most of it.

The only problem with this book is that book six hasn't come out yet!
Oh no, I'm all caught up! What can I read next? A good addition to the Vicky Peterwald story line. I'm sad because I've finished it and volume six isn't published yet. :-(

Vicky Peterwald: Righteous fury
Fifth novel in the 'VIcky Peterwald' military science fiction series. Which spun out of the 'Kris Longknife' series. This is not a jumping on point into a series that has run for a long time. New readers should start with 'Kris Longknife: Mutineer', and go from there. Regular ones can read on.This runs for two hundred and sixty seven pages. It has forty six chapters. It has a trigger warning from the writer at the start, because it involves Vicky dealing with men who have held women prisoner. And used them. For very bad things. As you can imagine.Picking up from the end of the last book, Vicky and her forces are taking back the Empire. Her husband is dealing with politics and making her a constitutional monarch. When she goes to liberate one planet, they find the aforementioned horrible situation in the capital city. Those behind it are going to regret things, as Vicky reacts to being pushed further than ever before...I can see some bad reviews of this. But I really quite liked it. Because the whole dealing with what the men have done stuff isn't all the book. Just the middle. It begins, as books in this and the Kris series usually do, with the lead character having to deal with military situations and politics. But taking time for romance interludes. This is well handled and readable as ever. The way it pushes Vicky steadily along as a character is really good. As she is getting to like monogamy and coming round to certain political ideas. The whole middle section as mentioned just manages not to be overlong. And it works because it puts her in the same situation as the allied soldiers who liberated the death camps in 1945. Discovering the worst of humanity. Horrors beyond your imagination. How do you react to that? It's food for thought. It handles it in a convincing manner. And manages to develop the main character at the same time. The last sixty or so pages do deal with other matters. And do end with some interesting set up for more to come. Thus there's things up in the air at the end..Not the longest read in the series. But I found it very involving with some food for thought so it will stick with me for a while. At the time of writing this it is unclear if any more books are going to come - see the writer's facebook page for updates and explanations - but if we never see Vicky again, at least she had a memorable story to go out on.

Big mistake by the author.
Implacable is 267 pages long. The author also gives a "Trigger Warning" at the start. In my view, pages 47 - 216 need a complete rewrite.1. Way too much space is spent on violent room to room clearing of really bad people and saving hostages. It's rather tedious. All so on page 209 Vicky can realize that absolute power corrupts and that she neds the rule of law.2. Mike Shepherd has gone way overboard with an one dimensional portrait of the Bowlingame faction as complete idiots and vile barbaric scum. I'd have rather had a book where planet Oryol had a competent leader who wasn't a barbarian. Most strategic cleverness than brute force violence.3. On one hand, I would love more Vicky Peterwald. There's still great potential there. However, I have zero interest if it's going to be more of what we got in Implacable.

Short read, but enjoyable.
It was a good quick read that continued the growing story of Vicky Peterwald, and shows a clear dark side to humanity, only drawback was it was too short.
