Vascular Ultrasound: How, Why and When 3rd Edition

Every chapter I opened up in this book, I saw new materials and golden techniques (Devil is in detail). After tens of ultrasound books that I have read so far, this one tops it all.For example, on carotid artery study which I have always have had difficulty to see the "FORK" on bifurcation, Author says just reassured me that you mostly wont see that Fork and have to put the south pull of probe on Common Carotid and move the North pull to right and left. By this fanning technique one time you see ICA laterally /inferiorly then ECA medially. That resolved lots of pain for me, thank you.I had asked this question of not all the time seeing the classic views from top sonographers, cardiologist and none was able to give a correct answer of why I don't see the Fork classically until this book told me so.Yes you will not those most of the time due to anatomic variations. Book said it very honestly and technique is this simple.Then New material, like patent Foramen Ovale can cause up to 40% of Migraines with Aura and FDA still doesn't approve echo to look for PFO (Yet). This was also a great pointer for me whom sees many Migraines in office and no "cause" has been established for it, now I know what to look for.Also Book challenges the other classic views and openly says most of the time you will not see these views like textbooks.Like Renal Artery "BANANA PILL" may not be seen at all. That said I feel a little better. I was very frustrated that why after one decade of sonography I don't see these classic pictures all the time, so I feel teachers were not 100% honest with all of us and only based on anatomic variation and if you get lucky with a good case then you will see these classic views. .So you have to try the book for yourself and be patient and don't read it fast. I passed through the physics parts of it and directly went for what I needed from table of Content. That was faster. I have to express my thanks for these good people who did such a wonderful collection and at times MONTAGE of pictures. That shows their research interest and excellence in teaching.

It is perfect for me...I am RDMS ABD...I have learned Vascular by trial ...this book has filled in the blanks for me...it has given me more confidence.RDMS, RTR (MRI)

I was able to know what I was buying and it matched what I was expecting, which is what I look for when I buy online.

this book is helpful however, after each chapter is over i think of things i wish were included in each topic. I also wish there was a practice test or review test at the end or on the cd. It is an easy read. I wish it would explain thing a little better. Would only recommend this book to people who already have a firm grasp on physics and hemodynamics!
