Good at dry leaves, but engine burned out
I've used this shredder for over 3 years. It works great on dry leaves, fed through gradually. The opening is big enough to pour them in. If material is long grass or long green stems, or there are small dry branches (>1/2"), then it can clog or stall. I'm careful about what goes in, and my truckloads of dry leaves are reduced to a nice mulch for my fruit trees, which is why I bought this shredder. Last week it suddenly shut itself off and there was an electrical smell. Somehow I burned out the motor. Customer service was great at diagnosing the problem, sending out a new motor, and a video to show that it is fairly easy for me to replace the motor. I'm not mechanical, and it was no problem. I'm be back in business! I looked at a lot of options before buying this shredder, and I like that it is electrical, not gas powered; has steel blades instead of plastic weed-wacker cord; has a larger opening than many shredders; and is light enough for me to roll it around the yard as I shred. It was worth replacing the motor in comparison to buying a new shredder, especially because I have been so happy with this one.

The shredder is a cut above the rest!
I've spent countless hours searching for the perfect leaf shredder, and my quest is finally over! After trying out a popular string shredder (I'll spare you the brand name, but it starts with a W), I was left unsatisfied with its performance on twigs and gum balls. I decided to give this model a try. Assembly was a breeze, and I was immediately impressed by the high-quality materials used in its construction. This machine exudes durability and sturdiness, instilling my confidence in its long-term performance. I was initially skeptical about the blade size and their overall quality, but I was pleasantly surprised. The blades are thick, sharp, and built to handle heavy-duty tasks effortlessly. To give you an idea of their size, I included a picture with my hand alongside them, as well as a shot with my finger showing their thickness. Eager to put it to the test, I wasted no time taking it out to the yard after assembly. I had a massive pile of leaves, teeming with pesky quarter-inch sticks and an abundance of gum balls. However, this leaf shredder didn't skip a beat. Not once did it jam, effortlessly reducing everything in its path to finely shredded pieces. The negative reviews claiming it struggles with wet leaves are probably true, as that complaint seems to be common.. The debris I cleared today was bone-dry, which is typical for my Californian climate. So, if you reside in a region with high humidity or excessive moisture, this machine might not be the ideal choice for you. I can confidently say that this leaf shredder has surpassed my expectations and exceeded all other options I've tried. Its outstanding performance, coupled with its sturdy build and efficient shredding capabilities, make it the ultimate choice for anyone seeking a top-notch leaf shredder.

VERY poor design
What I don't like about this equipment. 1. The rubber flaps over the hopper make it VERY difficult to get leaves into the machine. There is no way to do it without pushing in leaves with your hand which is slow and not safe. Also, it is not a very wide top so leaves fall out and onto the ground around the hopper requiring added cleanup effort. I finally got some tape and taped all 8 of the flaps open so it was a little easier to drop leaves in and stand back. But the problem of spillage was still present. Needs a larger hopper entry. 2. They sent a round bag for leaf debris, but there is no way to effectively put it under the place where the mulched leaves exit. I tried a bungee cord but it was ineffective. It seems that the way this is designed is to simply spew out mulched leaves onto the ground. How is that effective? I then need to pick that up. I tried to put a leaf tarp under the exit chute, but it was largely ineffective because the legs don't allow you to put in directly under and it spewed mulched leaves all over the place. They should have designed a system to place a tight bag around an opening that collects the mulched leaves. Would have been very possible. 3. I ran it for about 10 minutes before it plugged up. I tried and tried to unplug it through the opening but eventually had to disassemble the top chute (8 bolts) to remove it so I could get in to unclog it. This could have been designed so that the inevitable plug up with sticks or larger leaves could be more easily unclogged. 4. Since I spent so much on this I kept trying it but eventually went back to using the leaf vacuum/ mulcher I have that cost less than half as much and is much quicker and neater. My recommendation is to not buy this. I've wasted my money on this and won't likely be using it anymore.

Having tried a couple of similar units I found that this one was the best of the bunch I went through and does a superb job of mulching leaves and small twigs but any thick enough pieces of wood are likely to get stuck on the sides and jam the blades. Removing them is simple and the unit continues to run normally afterwards. The wheels on the unit are terrible and should be replaced with something more sturdy. The ones I got barely seem like they could take the weight of the unit and were not usable (I carried the thing instead). It's also difficult to pour leaves in as you'll need to push in even the smallest amount. You can do this relatively safely by hand as the blades are way down in there but be safe and use some sort of tool. It's also really loud. Overall, I would recommend this unit for the price. While not perfect, it does the job well and any complaints I have are minor at best and wouldn't stop me from buying another.

Absolute junk that clogs and stops itself every two minutes. Wobbly base. Cheap wheels that fall apart. Just some simple leaves turns into cement paste inside and the motor stops. Do not buy. And impossible to return once built and used. Pissed!
