How large is the pocket that is on the outside? (How deep) could a iPhone 6s Plus fit into it?

I called my granddaughter and she said that iPhone 10 fits so I tho the a 10S will too.

How durable is this bag? I purchased a non loungefly harry potter bag made of faux leather also and the straps ripped at the seam within a month.

Loungefly bags are pretty durable. I've had my HP bag for 4 years and the only damage to it is bc my 🦜 bit it. It's been a daily use for the last two years

Would i be able to fit a full sized hard back book?

Just Barely! The corners might make it hard to zip, depending on what else you are trying to carry in the backpack
