Great Compliation, no dinosaurs on here
If you like Bolan I would say this is an essential purchase, barring a few "Dylavan" tracks where the young Bolan tried other peoples skins on, when he tries his own on he flies.I think the thing about Bolan was he essentially never progressed, that is not a criticism, he always did what he did and basically the Bolan template was fully formed for a long time (say 1965) it took the record buying public a while to catch up with him, the large majority of this early material would not sound out of place on later Tyrannosaurus Rex or T.Rex albums, unlike Bowie who changed tack so constantly that you couldn't imagine any of his early material on later albums or even corresponding ones for that matter !!Bolan never really made a really bad album, apart from perhaps Zinc Alloy, he rarely was daring, although Futuristic Dragon certainly was but he retreated back to type essentially after that, but that lack of progression delivers great, simple songsThe songs sound so fresh on here, the unissued Stereo Mixes sound amazing as does much of this CD, not sure why a few people have said it is not is a mystery, even the demos are not shabby, I just love those early singles, having the Johns Children/Bolan tracks in one place is good too, those verses in Desdemona a complete rip from Dancing In The Street, but what a song predating punk. With 37 tracks it would be hard to pick out just one or two favorites, this CD is a credit to Easy Action, it has been complied with care, the sound quality is great as is the packaging and the book, I just love it to bits

Great sounds from Marc Bolan
Credited to Bölan with an umlaut this 37 track collection is a treat for the ears collecting on CD the two vinyl LP’s Electronic Musik and Pictures of Purple People released the same day. Including pre Tyrannosaurus Rex material, it’s the first time Marc's `60s music has been available in one package. Includes some recordings originally stolen from Marc & Gloria's home and recently repatriated you can hear tracks by Marc as Toby Tyler, John’s Children and solo material used for singles in 1965 and the complete acoustic demos (A Beginning Of Doves) from 1966 remastered. Also includes rare tracks Reality & A Soldiers Song. Unfortunately Mrs Jones and All At Once are not included as well as other demos that still exist. One of the better releases from ‘Easy Action’ in recent years, as a lot of their product is simply repackaged stuff most fans already have.

sound quality wasen't as good as I expected but great collection in one
Wonderful to have all Marc's early releases on one disc and nicely packaged too in cardboard sleeve. The quality is not fantastic but acceptable. This is a Bolan collectors item that every fan should have as their is some good gems on here that should have been massive hits at the time.

Good compilation
I know all the tracks from being a lifelong Bolan fan. The remastering and alternate takes are excellent. Not music for a Bolan introduction but well worth having. The playing side of the disc is a gold or copper colour which is unusual.

Great early recordings
Probably one for the Bolan fans however there is some surprisingly good recordings here that stand up on their own merits as songs. Enjoyed the time listening to the cd, well worth the purchase.
