Some brands of tuna now use a pull top lid, will this work on those smaller diameter openings?

I bought this specifically to use on pull top cans, as my old one would not fit inside the new can tops so that I could press down on the tuna. This one doesn't either. The difference in the openings is quite small, but crucial. I'll keep looking.

is this actually 7.5 inches in diameter ?

Not 7.5 inches... With the outer ring on it's just about 4 and 7/8th inches and with it off it's about 3.25 which fits perfectly inside a tuna can without allowing tuna out from around the sides. Hope that helps!
