C'est à lire, aucun doute.L'écriture est tellement fluide. Un vrai régal.Il y a tellement de bons mots et de réflexions profondes qu'on ne peut qu'aimer.

Un début et une histoire fascinante mais avec une troisième partie très décevante, qui n'est pas à la hauteur du reste du livre

Dans ce livre de science fiction légère, un avion Paris-New York atterrit en mars après un vol mouvementé, et mystérieusement, une deuxième fois en juin avec le même avion et les passagers identiques. Nous suivons le sort des passagers avant et après le deuxième vol.Le livre commence très bien avec la vie et la caractérisation des passagers avant les évènements, surtout en France. L’idée de base est bonne et intrigante. Mais après l’atterissage du deuxième avion, ça devient un thriller assez banal, avec FBI, psychologues militaires, mathématiciens à la Jurrassic Park, crise intérnationale, etc. On a un peu l'impression que ça a été écrit pour passer aussi bien en traduction anglaise qu'en français, et d'ailleurs c'est réussi de ce point de vue là.Il y a pourtant un anachronisme, ou une « anomalie » réelle. Le livre a été terminé début 2020, et l'action se passe entre mars et juin 2021. Mais la pandémie n’apparait pas! Les évènements, pourtant bizarres, se passent sans confinement, masques ni autre distanciation sociale. Vu de 2022, ça semble encore plus bizarre, et fournit un exemple de la réalité plus étrange que la fiction.

I knew nothing about this book other than it was to be a subject of conversation in a French speaking discussion group in Boston, my home town. I bought the book and became so caught up in the story that I read it, even with my haphazard French, in one weekend. I wholeheartedly recommend it in either its English translation or French version. The book itself is a fascinating work of science fiction which raises profound questions about reality as we believe it to be.

Would you be friends or in competition? Would the world love the spectacle or want to bury the affront to the certainty of God-given life? If it meant or might mean you and everything else made was a simulation, would you play out the game or pull the plug? What does it matter if there's no god, or if we aren't even real in the way of the earth or a tree? Should we live majestically in the wonder and uncertainty or call the game quits having figured it out, or so you think?

This is a genre-crossing novel that combines science fiction with speculative philosophy and rumination on the nature of reality. It’s relatively easy to read considering its intellectual pretensions. The speculation on areas of progress in math, physics, and technology come across as shallow rather than as founded in mastery of the topics. These sections hardly struck me as very original. Much of the text is written at the intellectual level of a marijuana-addled teenager, rather than that of a well-informed hard science fiction writer. Even the plot reminds me of an episode of the Twilight Zone that I saw on TV as a child in the mid-1960s.The plot concerns an Air France Boeing 787 on the Paris-New York route that traverses a violent storm and then lands in JFK in March. The same flight lands for a second time in May, leaving the US authorities with two identical planes and sets of passengers. The story follows the consequences for governments and for some of the passengers.The French style is passable but not extraordinary. The book’s only strength is in the wit of an Victor Miesel, a character whose the author, in the book, of the Anomaly.Despite these weaknesses, the book won France’s top literary award, the Goncourt in 2020 and sole over a million copies. The book is available in English translation as The Anomaly.My advice is, don’t waste your time.

C'est un livre qu'on laisse pas des mains de qui avance à un rythme de plus en plus accéléré . Le plaisir de la lecture est exquis : les phrases sont parfaitement construites, les idées claires et les mots choisis avec soin et économie pour dessiner des croquis de plusieurs gens ordinaires ,pourtant uniques et touchants . Même sans un conflit si hors commun le livre aurais été pour moi une lecture agréable car à tous les fois en littérature ou en art en général c'est pas l'histoire qui me fascine et charme, mais la façon dont elle est racontée.
