Spooky & Wonderful!
What drew me in for this book was the cover. It was creepy and interesting and I have to say that the book didn’t disappoint at all. This one really reminded me of mashed up episode of Supernatural, The Conjuring, and Mean Girls with Hoarders tossed in for good measure. And I have to say that IT WORKED!! I have have been in the pahanmoral field for over 20 years and I have to say that this author did a very good job with the ghosty demon aspect of this story. I felt like she did justice to those who cleanse objects etc. And I loved every second of it.The characters in this one were great. I loved Anna and really enjoyed that she was just a normal teenager. She had her faults and well she acted her age! How many young adult novels can say that? I know that I have seen some people say that this reads for younger teens and I would have to disagree. Her being 16 in this she sounded just right. I know that my 14 almost 15 year old acts a lot like Anna in some aspects. And over the course of the story she grows and learns that its ok to make mistakes. And its also ok to just let things go. Because in the end no one can make you feel bad unless you let them. Her friends were perfect for this story as well. I do wish we would have gotten a little more romance in this one but I could see that happening in a book two. Her dad although a hoarder was also great. He was understanding for the most part and his new partner was so adorable!! I love her so much!!I think that I would love to see a book two that centers around the house being cleaned up. Her dad going forward with healing after his wife's death. And some romance blooming between some characters. As well as maybe then going on the hunt to start ridding the world of bad spirits etc. Esp. with how this one ended with Anna having a certain connection.Go Into This One Knowing: Bullies, Pedophile (old teacher), Ghosts, Death of a Parent, No Cliffhanger

Exciting!
A Ghost Hunter’s Daughter is a dark and enticing paranormal novel by author Caroline Flarity. Ana has known the world of demons her whole life. Her father has made it his mission to clear objects of spirits, and Ana is his assistant. Her mother was possessed by a demon when Ana was only a child and took her own life. Ana is known in town as the goblin girl and only has two true friends. But this existence changes forever when a storm hits her home of Bloomtown, and everyone starts acting a little crazy. I loved Anna. She is strong, courageous, loyal, smart, and above all, a normal teen. It was incredibly refreshing to read a young adult novel that had teenagers that acted like teenagers. Despite the horror or the world that she lives in, she is, for the most part, a regular teen that just wants to have friends and do well at school. Often teens are written to feel way too old, or it feels patronizing, but Flarity does a wonderful job in all the teen characters of capturing real emotions, conversations, and desires. From mean bullies to not realizing your friend has a crush on you, it felt real and natural. Flarity has a real knack for writing characters in general as the adults were also well-developed. The characters all have depth, individual emotions, and their own quirks that each felt interesting and added to the overall story. My favorite characters, besides Anna, were her friends Dor, Freddy, and her dad Jack. The relationships between all three of them were also complex and intriguing. I had a lot of fun reading this book. The plot was exciting and full of scary moments and fun creature. I would definitely recommend this if you like paranormal tales.

Not your average ghost story but it’s really good!
I picked this book mostly because of the title. I love a good ghost story! But I have to say even though I quickly scanned over the summary it took me by surprise. In a good way!I was expecting a story about a girl going ghost hunting with her father and their adventures along the way. But I was so wrong, it’s not about that at all.The story is about Anna, a teenage girl who lost her mother at a young age to a demon possession. Her father Jack, a plumber by trade, took on the job of clearing haunted objects after her mother passed and also tried to find a way to communicate with her mother in the after life. All of this makes Anna a social outcast with only two close friends. At first Anna doesn’t really notice anything strange going on, her dad has always been a bit weird. He's become a hoarder over the years and their house is cluttered with "Jack's Crap" as Anna likes to call it. So his odd behaviour doesn’t immediately ring a bell. But when she notices her friends acting strange, her classmates becoming murderous and she doesn't even recognise her own erratic behaviour at times, she begins to suspect something else is going on.She’s going to have to figure out what is going on and how to stop it. But will she be able to? Can she do it on her own? Or can she rely on her friends to help her even though their friendship starts to unravel? It's not just a paranormal story. This book touches on mental health issues, teenage angst and fitting in the social norm as well as finding who you truly are. It’s pretty well written. The story flows and it made me want to continue reading .It is not your typical ghost story, but I have to say I really enjoyed this approach to ghosts and demons. It has a different take on the existing paranormal stories out there. It even uses what appear to be normal standards in the paranormal research world such as EMF. Which makes for a believable read that doesn’t require a lot of imagination to make it work. So, even though I expected something completely different (which is entirely my own fault) I actually enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. I think it's easy to relate to some of the issues addressed in the book. Things all of us experience at some point in our lives.Rating 4/5Disclaimer: I received this book as an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. All opinions are my own.
