Obagi Sunscreen Sun Shield Matte Sunscreen

"They say" you should wear sunscreen daily. I have tried to follow this advice, particular in recent years. I am 43, very fair, and just recently had to have a basal cell carcinoma removed from my forehead. It was definitely a wake up call and I set out to finally find a sunscreen I would apply each day. Other sunscreens I'd tried invariably made my skin break out. They also tended to leave a whitish film on my face. A friend of mine suggested Obagi Medical after his own experience with basal cell carcinoma. I hesitated a little at the price, but it takes such a small amount to cover my face that this tube will last a very long time. This sunscreen absorbs easily, isn't greasy, doesn't leave a white film, and doesn't make my skin break out. Any makeup I want to apply goes on without any effort. I like the peace of mind that comes from using a sunscreen and the fantastic performance of this product. I absolutely plan on continuing to use this.

I live in Florida and I need a strong sunscreen every day. I have oily skin and this product is truly a godsend. It's matte, even in high humidity, and it doesn't slide off in the heat. I use it mixed with moisturizer (Embryolisse) under my makeup and the two products together help my makeup last all day. (I know mixing the sunscreen with moisturizer dilutes the SPF but even if it's down to 30, it still protects well enough for my daily needs.) In really hot weather, I use the sunscreen alone. It absorbs in under a minute and I'm good to go. It has no fragrance, which my sensitive skin appreciates. It's really thick and rich and a little goes a long way. I can cover my face and neck with one small dollop. The true test of a sunscreen is whether or not the sun gets through when you're outside all day. I can honestly say that not one single ray gets through this formula. It's also reasonably priced, which everyone appreciates. I didn't think a high SPF matte sunscreen existed, so this product is exactly what I was looking for. I like everything about it and I feel like my skin is truly protected. I highly recommend this product.

I was reluctant to use Obagi product in the past because a few friends used Obagi peeling products and their faces were as red as lobster shell.... While hunting for a good sunscreen with high SPF (l live in tropical country), l came across this product and was surprised to see the 4 & 5 stars given by reviewers. I thought l would give it a try since the price offered by Amazon is pretty reasonable. This is the 1st time l use Obagi product and l must give this product a 5 stars for its non greasy, easy to apply smooth texture that does not clog my pores while giving me the protection needed. An update: l am still using it. Happier with it than the very 1st time l tried. With SPF50 l feel confident of good protection. My freckles have not increased in numbers nor in darkness. this is a very welcoming thing. I should mention Obagi sunscreen smooths out evenly and easily on my skin without greasiness or heaviness. I can wear it all day long without extra oil on the T section. It also gives a nice finish as if l powdered my face.

This is an excellent sunscreen, and I highly recommend it. It has a dry-touch finish, does not feel sticky or greasy, and does not sting my eyes. It feels comfortable on the skin and works very well for everyday use.

So I am mid-20s and have acne-prone combination skin; I use lots of strong acne-fighting products which make skin more susceptible to sun damage, so I need a good sunscreen that doesn't break me out and preferably doesn't add to the oily look on my face. I've tried a bazillion different sunscreens, and so far I'm impressed with this one. I've only used this for 3 weeks though, and my skin tends to get adjusted and stop behaving once I've used the same product too long, so, I'll have to see how this works for me long-term. This is a bit thicker than the previous sunscreens I've used recently, but it's still easy enough to apply thoroughly, and while it goes on very white, it easily massages in or dries on its own, so I have no real problems with the texture or color. It does feel a bit thick when first applied, but my face doesn't seem bothered by it once its dried into the skin. It does still feel sticky even once dry if you touch your face with your hands, which I find gross, but I think that's actually a perk, since it discourages me from touching my face as often as I would want to, and that's important for reducing bacteria and thus acne. Also, it really does a great job of mattifying my skin. My skin looks completely matte when first applied, but within an hour, my skin looks normal healthy dewy, and it last almost all workday for keeping my skin from getting greasy. I usually pat my nose with an oil blotting paper at least once in the middle of the day, but the rest of my face looks great, and that works for me. It doesn't work for all day and all evening, though, so I do wash and re-apply it I am going somewhere in the evening and want my face looking perfect; otherwise, I just dab on a bit of shine control powder in the evening when I'm home from work to keep my face looking alright if we go out to dinner or something. I think it's definitely worth a try.

I have used many different sunscreens, but they have predictably caused breakouts and left a shiny, greasy film on my face. Obagi is a godsend: it's a no-nonsense sunscreen that delivers. My skin is acne-prone and very sensitive, yet I have not had one pimple after using Obagi. For my face, I use an amount that's about the size of a raspberry. I apply it using smooth strokes, and I haven't had the problem of the sunscreen balling up as some reviewers mentioned. At first you may see a whitish cast, but this will blend in immediately. The best part: my skin stays matte. I've even used make-up over Obagi and it goes on smoothly. I'd go so far as to say that this sunscreen even acts like a primer. As another reviewer mentioned, when out in the sun for a few hours be sure to reapply this. I was on a 2 hour bike ride today and had put my sunscreen on two hours prior to leaving. My face is slightly tanned tonight (I'm olive skinned). I would recommend reapplying every 2 hours.

i'd been using this product for over two years and it was my favorite sunscreen. i liked that it had a good concentration of zinc but really did not have that white cast and was truly matte. so when i got my last bottle, i was very surprised when i first opened the bottle, a horrendous, medicinal smell assaulted me. that was when i knew something was up. when i put it on, it was greasy AF. Totally not what you want when you shell out $50 for 3 ounces of sunscreen. This stuff is seriously unusable. Anyway, I called Obagi's customer service number and they confirmed that they recently changed the formulation. Didn't offer a refund or anything when i told them about the terrible smell and greasy feel. Anyway, it appears they almost doubled the zinc oxide concentration, which may account for the smell. Who knows. But unfortunately, this no longer appears to be a high quality product and i will be looking for an alternative

Rich and creamy sunscreen that is high spf and offers broad-spectrum coverage. Initial application leaves a white cast but once it absorbs it makes my skin look even better, smoother and more even-toned. I can’t use it on my eyelids, though because the chemicals do irritate. I use a mineral sunscreen on my eyes and forehead instead.

The cream texture has some particles that I think it was unstored well. So I can’t use it and should return back

I have tried many sunblock brands this one stands out ,no white resfue a little shinny but a good shield the only downside it is very extensive

I've used this product for years and really like it. I only use it on my face. It goes very well under my makeup without getting oily.
