Bai Zhu - Bai-zhu Atractylodes Rhizome, 100 Grams,(E-Fong)

I don't know what this stuff is! Personally I don't think its Bai Zhu! I ordered this product to tide me over until my shipment of Bai Zhu (supplied from another company) came in direct from China. I used the E-Fong Bai Zhu in the formula Wei Ling Tang and it threw the whole formula off. I had to go through all the herbs individually to figure out what herb was throwing off the blend. I compared the E-Fong Bai Zhu to some whole dried Bai Zhu that I had on hand and the E-Fong Bai Zhu does not smell, taste or give the same effect as the whole dried Bai Zhu. Bai Zhu is supposed to taste bitter, sweet and acrid. The E-Fong Bai Zhu only tastes sweet more like Yi Tang which is Barley Malt.If Ren Shen (Ginseng) builds the spleen qi fastest and strongest then Bai Zhu is supposed to be 50% as strong as Ren Zhen. The E-Fong Bai Zhu builds spleen qi at maybe 20% to 30% and it does not dry dampness like real Bai zhu is supposed to. People use Chinese herbs for their health and expect the quality to be at least adequate. My health is something I take seriously apparently E-Fong does not.
