Better than vets cone
So, this spring my vet told me she had concerns about Reed, my sweet elderly cats teeth. She said they had gotten a new xray machine that takes pics below the gum line and that he had something called reabsorbsion (where the teeth wear down and only the nubs below the gum line are left.) It's very painful. So, I scheduled him for a dental surgery. Because they had a lot of nubs to extract (last years cleaning they couldn't see the nubs) he was on the operating table for a long time. He was also the last cat scheduled that day. The heating pad had been on all day. Basically, they severely burned my cat. It was horrible.Obviously, I took him to a different vet. She put Reed in a cone of shame. However, she did mention these types of cones were available.I'm glad she did. This is much better. It's not so rough on his neck and he is able to eat with it on. He does have some trouble drinking, but I keep a very close eye on him and take it off when he gets thirsty. He's also on high dose meds so he sleeps a lot and the edge acts like a pillow.I would definitely buy this again. It's not made to last ( if you use it a lot), but that's OK because the price was low.

Fairly easy to loosen with a dedicated rambunctious cat. Might work for you, might not
I got the small soft cone as alternative to a regular cone for my 5 month male cat after he got neutered. His usual collar length is around 6.8-7 inches long. Unfortunately, my 5.8lb male cat was still able to get to his incision with this soft plush cone. He was also able to get out of this when I left him alone for an hour. I even tried to tighten it a little more and tucked it underneath him, but he was still able to loosen it and get out of it somehow and undid the whole neck fastener. My cat just hates having anything on his neck though, so if you have a calmer cat that doesn't really mind, it might stay on your cat. As for keeping your male cat from getting to his lower nether regions incision site, it most likely won't work. It may work for your female cat post spay surgery, but I would be safe and go with something with a little more length all around so you can have a better peace of mind. On the bright side, I really like how plush and light this soft cone was.My cat really hates his regular cone and looks so miserable in it, and I can't afford to wait another few days to try and order something new for him, I'm going to keep it and try using my newbie sewing skills to try and add some length to it all around. I'm also going to replace the neck rope fastener with some velcro instead so he won't be able to loosen it so easily.

Least offensive choice.
So, my human bought this one for me to stop me from pulling stitches out. I know! How freakin rude! She originally tried to suffocate me with this horrible plastic cone that the vet/assassin gave her but I screamed bloody murder so she went and spent a ridiculous amount of money on a worse one that almost killed me, it was so restrictive! (I don't know why she's laughing and accusing me of hyperbole, whatever that is) It took a night long stumble up and down her body to get her to buy this one. While we waited for it to arrive, I promised her that I wouldn't pull any stitches out if she didn't put either of the other torture devices back on so she relented and trusted me. By the time this one arrived, I had only pulled out 3 stitches so I thought I had done a pretty good job of keeping my word and I don't know why she got so upset. Once she put this little infinity ring on me, I whined and complained just enough to let her know that I was still not happy but not so much that she got the other two devices out again. She's so touchy sometimes. I've discovered that it also makes quite a handy pillow for those unscheduled and sudden nap attacks I experienced for a bit. While I don't recommend letting your staff think it's okay to put random objects around your neck, whine and complain until they buy you this one instead.

Glad we ordered this!
We ordered this for a one year old cat who would not leave the vet provided plastic cone on after spay. She removed the plastic cone within minutes of coming home and kept on removing it countless times. Around midnight she cut off her airway trying to remove the plastic cone while we were in the room. We decided to give up on the plastic cone, but we were exhausted trying to constantly watch her to keep her from licking her incision. We decided to give this soft collar a try, and we're so happy that we did! She can eat, sleep, and use the litter box with ease while wearing this soft collar. It prevents her from licking her stomach, but she can still reach other parts of her body. She is small (only 6.5 pounds), and the small size works great for her. Until we figured out how to adjust it just right, she was able to pull it off. But once we tightened it a bit more so that it would stay in place, it was comfortable enough that she eventually left it alone. I personally still wouldn't feel comfortable leaving her unattended for very long with any collar for safety reasons, but this soft collar has been so helpful to us. This soft collar (combined with the Gabapentin our vet provided to keep her calm) has made it so much easier to care for her during recovery.
