The holes in the corners of the playard are to thread the mattress straps through to secure the playard mattress in the playard.

The dimensions stated are 43x30, and you answered a questions stating inside dimensions for the mattress pad is 40x28. How is there a 2-3" gap?

Hi there. The playard measures 43"L x 30"W x 29"H. The playard mattress measures 41"L x 28.5"W x .5"H. The difference is due to the playard mattress being on the inside of the playard construction, which equates to a few inches of thickness from the playard material.

What mattress fits this pack and play?

The breeze GO playard mattress is included with the purchase. We cannot recommend a different mattress to use with the breeze GO playard.
