As much as I love my Frigidaire upright freezer, I've never been a big fan of the locking mechanism. When I bought this key, I realized that at least part of it was because of the plastic key. It seems like a subtle thing, but the difference is immediately noticeable.Locking the door feels much more secure, and I feel like those times that I thought I locked the door and didn't (sometimes resulting in the door popping open and causing everything to thaw out) are in the past. Buy one. Buy two! (I did because it's always nice to have a spare)

I wanted metal because I wanted durability. My latch is a little hard to turn and I was afraid a plastic key would snap. Thus key will never snap!

The metal key is great compared to the plastic ones.This will definitely keep kids from crawling inside the fridge and dying as well as keep A-holes from eating all my food. Lol

Definitely recommend locking your upright freezer door. Nothing worse than dealing with a freezer door left open! Nothing worse than loosing an entire contents of freezer.

Way better than the plastic key that came with the freezer. This is sturdy and won't strip away like a plastic key. Cheaper than replacement through the manufacturer and the manufacturer doesn't offer a metal key. This is definitely the way to go.
