Works well when used on dry hair before showering.
I don't usually do a pretreatment before showering unless it's oils so this Jess and Lou 5 Min ResQ Therapy is new for me. I tend to have frizzy, dull hair. Putting this on dry hair is a little complicated because it's thick and doesn't spread easily. It also says to not brush it through which is also unusual because I brush through my conditioner regularly to get it to go on thoroughly. After 5 mins it rinses out nicely and your hair feels soft and more manageable. I also tried using it on wet hair and it didn't go well. It was clumpy and hard to use. Guess that's why the instructions say dry hair.

Smell is ok, but I am not convinced this actually has made any difference...
The cost of this small tub of hair product is too much in my opinion. The first couple of times I used it, I had a really hard time washing it out of my hair. The consistency of the product is a big "lump" of solid paste. I apologize if that isn't much help. I had a very difficult time trying to get the product worked into my hair. Then it recommends allowing to remain in your hair for 5 minutes. Then shampoo and condition as usual. This is the thing, after I do all this work applying it in my hair, I now have to wash my hair with shampoo two or three times. Just to feel like the product if out of my hair. Overall It has more effort than I was looking for, and the final out come is this product isn't what it claims. The cost of the product needs to be reconsidered. For the extra time, effort, and extra shampoo .... I didn't notice any change to my hair. The only change that I have noticed after using this product is: overpriced, used 3x more shampoo than usual, like a smack to my wallet - ouch!!

Worked great as a pre-shampoo or post-shampoo deep conditioner and silicone-free
This mask worked great as a pre-shampoo hair mask. I really noticed that my hair was much silkier, shinier, and more moisturized after using this plus my standard shampoo and conditioner. I also thought I'd be a rebel and try this as an after shampoo hair treatment, and I'm so glad I did! I applied this thick, rich cream to the lower third of my hair, left it on for 10 minutes, and then rinsed and the conditioning effect was much more dramatic this way! My ends have never felt and looked better and it almost looked like I'd had a haircut because they looked so healthy. This would be too moisturizing for most people to use from the roots to the ends but I highly recommend it as a pre or post conditioner for mids and ends, especially for damaged hair. I also love that this mask does not contain any silicones. Even though I usually love products that contain silicones, I clarify my hair once per week to prevent buildup. Usually my hair is dry and pitiful during this cleansing phase but this conditioner made my hair just as shiny, soft, and detangled as ones containing silicones.

A new step in your routine
I have never used a pre shampoo mask before so I was excited to try. It goes on dry hair before your shower and then you wash it out. My hair is always in need of extra moisture and typically looks dry and dull. I thought this did a good job of adding softness to my hair without added weight. If you have fine hair that doesn't do well with leave ins, I think this is a perfect step to add to get healthier looking hair.

Quality rescue for my dry, over-processed hair. Pre-shampoo: Put on dry, wait 10, rinse off.
I love the scent like 1000 angels! I do not find the application intuitive, but I love the result. I was careful to apply this as evenly as possible. I knew I needed at least to adhere this creamy substance to the ends and avoid affecting too many roots. I might have used too much product and feared over-conditioning, which could result in limp hair. Next time, I will know what to expect; I am "seasoning" the damaged hair (not roots) with a "paste," which is this product as it is in the jar. We do not have to add anything; we massage it and let it set around ten or more minutes before rinsing it to prepare for the next step. If all goes well, we can shampoo and lightly condition it afterward. The jar also says that you can use this as an after-shampoo deep conditioning treatment. If so, you do the same thing as before, but on wet instead of dry hair. Then, you will be rinsing it out (well) and styling your hair. Your hair should be tangle-free and moist; no frizzy and dry ends are the best result. However, you might see some limp and oily hair, so avoid conditioning roots and rinse well before proceeding.Again, this smells angelic! I realize now that the product is pretty pricey whenever I notice this feature, but in my opinion, that is the price of quality.Washing/rinsing out is going to take a while. I can do it easier in the shower, but I am shampooing in the sink right now, so it takes a bit longer and some elbow grease.Enjoy!

Difficult to apply to dry hair
This product was very thick and difficult to apply to dry hair as directed. Thickness is similar to that of other hair masques but this one is meant to be applied on dry hair. I had better success when i we the hair and then applied. It doesn't have a strong smell and washed out easily.

Thick paste and clean smell
The tub of Jess & Lou 5 Minute ResQ comes in a box, but neither the box or tub was safety sealed. The tub did have a plastic insert under the lid to keep the product in. That’s not too big of a concern since the product is a very heavy cream and doesn’t move around at all. There was a lot of extra space in the tub also. The product smells good and just has a clean overall smell to me. I use a finger to get a bit of product out of the tub and I move it around the fingers on both hands prior to rubbing it into my hair. I waited the recommended 5 minutes and then took a shower. I shampoo’ed and conditioned as usual. My hair did feel softer and smoother. I didn’t use a hair gel after using this product, like I normally do, and my hair seemed to maintain the shape that I combed it into.
