Q: Do these mats have a sticky bottom or require "tape" to stick to a wood staircase? Looking for rubber bottom and non-slip tops.

These do not have a sticky bottom,nor do they require any tape. The tops are carpet like, not rubber. I've had mine on both sets of wooden stairs outside for a few years now and they work great. I got them so it would be easier for my dog to go up and down without slipping due to the fur on the bottom of his feet. I would note that there isn't any open space at the back of each step (I think its called an enclosed step?) so they can't fall off the back of the step. I'm not sure if that would be an issue for someone who does have open back stairs. That being said, we've had some 50+ mile per hour winds and they have not flown off the steps, they have stayed put. I like that I can pick them up and shake the dirt off or hose them off if really dirty. I hope this helps.

We have a big dog and these treads do a good job of staying in place on our deck stairs. They get pretty heavy when wet so they may work under water. Good luck!
