Fractured Landscape Quilts

Great book
I owned this book previously but it was ruined in a plumbing leak so this is a replacement. It’s an awesome book with really great instructions that can be used for even regular landscapes.

I made a small fractured quilt using Katie's instructions - although rather than using the recommended railroad board
I read this book from cover to cover and am still using it as a reference. I made a small fractured quilt using Katie's instructions - although rather than using the recommended railroad board, I used my favorite freezer paper method for making my templates. Katie's quilts are quite large and need the railroad board for templates, but her methods may be applied to smaller quilts. I recently used her applique methods - described in detail in this book - to make a quilted collage of some of my own photos. I would recommend her book to use as a starting point to create your own 'one of a kind" quilts. Inspiring!

Katie has written another fabulous book
I bought this book over a year ago, after watching her on a Simply Quilts episode. I read it cover to cover and began a project almost immediately. Unfortunately it was put in the UFO basket but have only recently completed it, wishing I had not procrastinated. The idea is quite different but the concept was amazing. The book needs to be read first to understand the step by step and it is well set out.You can make any pictorial quilt into an amazing visual delight where viewed from a distance it is a work of art. Katie personally signed mine and I love her talent.

Master landscape quilter.
Very inspirational. Definitely not for beginners. Very good in the design and how to select fabrics and step by step execution. Very tedious in how she puts pieces together. Could fuse or glue each piece instead of turning the edges under. Refer to Susan Carlson technique of gluing. Of course Katie M finishing technique is a lot neater as there are no raw edges.

I participated in a three day class which helped greatly and hope that the results will eventually be great. Suggest that folks
Labeled as okay because this is a challenging process. I participated in a three day class which helped greatlyand hope that the results will eventually be great. Suggest that folks start with a small project - maybe an18 inch(ish) square or rectangle. Our instructor has made several quilts using this technique and they arestunning.

Interesting concept
I like the concept, and the instructions and illustrations are good. I don't think this book, overall, is as good as Katie's book "Inspiration in Design", however.

Wow!
This is a book that makes you re-think. Fantastic! It takes traditional ideas and re-creates for a completely new look. Haven't started on my quilt yet, but really intrigued by the process

Creative and Informative
Great information using a landscape format but with a creative twist. Good directions and options to create your own masterpiece.

Technique bien décrite
Chaque étape de la création d'un patch "fragmenté" est très bien décrite dans ce livre: les photos sont aidantes. L'ensemble du livre donne envie d'explorer cette technique!
