Inspired from over 10 years of research, the Organization for Bat Conservation has designed the Songbird Essentials Five Chamber OBC Bat House. The OBC (Organization for Bat Conservation) has created a weather resistant cedar bat house that can hold up to 600 bats to make sure that a lot of bats have a safe home. The Songbird Essentials Five Chamber OBC Bat House has many features to make it a great place for bats to call home. It has extending landing for easy entrance and interior nylon mesh for maneuverability. By providing a protected home for these bats, they will return the favor by helping to control mosquitoes and other flying insects in your yard. The Songbird Essentials Five Chamber OBC Bat House also includes ventilation slots for air circulation as well as a 3/4 inch exterior plywood back. Made in the USA.

Terrific Constructed Bat House. Good Quality
This is a replacement bat house for the one I had for over 7 years. This is a very well made bat house. Lots of thought and time was spent to make it so nice. It is Heavy! It must weight 30 pounds or so. I installed our bat house in Sunny Central Florida on a Queen Palm using 3 inch stainless screws with 1 1/4" fender washers. I used 7 total screws. It held it nice to the tree. I installed it on the South Side of the tree. With our little bat house we had before we had 68 bats! With this one we should have many hundreds! It is mounted up 14-16 feet off the ground and the little one was up 20 feet. The higher the better. You really want to mount this bat house in direct Sun during the day.Enjoy this house. Again it was made really really well and should be a winner with the bats!God BlessJeff

NOT VERY SATISFIED
Arrived in good condition, but when on the next day I went to put it up, I noticed the right side panel had split all the way in two locations because they torqued the screws down too hard. I had to put off mounting it and glue and clamp it overnight. Plus, for the amount of money you spend on this, I think they could have used stainless or brass screws. Additionally, it is very heavy and, if were me, I would put some type of eye bolt on the top of the lid for hoisting it up (15' minimum is a long way to carry such a heavy box up a ladder).

This bat house is huge and beautifully built. It's sturdy and will weather the elements for years (20+) to come, I'm sure of that. I live in the desert Southwest. Actually, it's bigger than my needs. 400+ bats is the accommodation. I hope I can find a location on my property to hang it as I have no telephone post nor barn. I live in a residential area. I'm giving it this excellent rating, because I would rather give it away than return it. I'll find a home here or elsewhere. Thanks!

Extra large bat house has bats
I put this house up September 1st, 2014. It is October 9th, and guano evidence under the house indicates bats have occupied it; a total surprise as they had abandoned the old, smaller house a few weeks earlier.I was impressed with the attention to detail of the house. It is well-made. I did not paint it as the temperature here in the summer gets into the high 90's. I did use Thompson's Deck sealer ONLY on the edges and back of the 3/4" plywood, fearing it may delaminate even though it is exterior grade. It is mounted on a 16 foot 4x4 which was attached to an existing 4x4 post which had held the old house. Drilling through both posts allowed me to use 1/2" carriage bolts so I could use my lawn tractor to pivot it up beside the original post with the house having been mounted at ground level (I am 82 year's old).

WORTH EVERY PENNY!
I am more than satisfied! Even if I had the time, equipment and inclination to build this myself, I don't think I could purchase the materials any more cost effectively than buying this piece already premade. This house could not have been built much better. Top notch. Absolutely solid and mindful construction. Even the plywood back plate is flawless! Once this is painted and mounted, I doubt that I will ever live long enough to see its demise. We'll see but I can't imagine that I could have better luck attracting occupents using any other product!

This bat house is beautiful! My only complaint is along the side
This bat house is beautiful! My only complaint is along the side, when the pieces are connected, the wood splits. We returned the first, and the second arrived with the same crack. The house is up, and now we just wait for the bats. Overall, a great bat house!

Good Product!
Well constructed Bat House - all I need now is for the bats to move in! Hoping to alleviate the mosquitos this summer.

Got Bats!
Got bats after about 2-3 weeks! Hung it up high on the barn facing the morning sun. I purchased this after already having bats living behind a fake hay door, after about 5 years the plywood began to wear and the bats were slipping out. The inside did not have any mesh for them to hold on to especially the babies, I did not plan to have bats. This is a very strong box with the mesh to help them hang on and slanted top. They will let you know when they are there when you see the little black poo on the ground. We have already been through several rain storms and weather over 100 degrees and the box as well as the bats are doing great! I'm very happy that bats came to live on our property and I'm even happier that I could provide them with a safe home!
