This was an assigned text bookf or my history of African American Women class and it was assigned with quite a few others but it held its own and was not lost in the bunch it offers insight and true knowledge into the lives of African American women during the direct oppression of society and the white community in general...it was an amazing honest representation...

This book is a collection of essays on the role of women (both well-known and obscure) in the black movement. A serious academic writing of rigorous research and solid knowledge. Some chapters are more enjoyable than the others.

Came in good condition, such an educating book.

Sisters in the Struggle focuses on the often forgotten women without whom the Civil Rights Movement would not have been possible.

The media could not be loaded.  The book arrived in great condition...but it was bound backwards and upside down! I’m excited to read it but I’m gonna look supremely I intelligent while I do it :/

I'm studying the American Civil Rights Movement at University and this book is an incredible illustration of the work done by women for the movement - an area of historical research that used to be extremely hard to come by. Beautifully written and well researched.
