My what a big ribbon!
This edition is very nice. Nice not expensive taste kind of nice but just nice. The cover and binding are done as cheaply as humanly possible. The gold gilding is like a gold sharpie marker type quality. The "signatures" are way too big for a book of this size. There should only be 1 signature every 10 pages, 20 pages max. The book is the same size as a family bible. This is not heirloom quality. This is read it once then stick it on a shelf to look pretty. I would have preferred real leather and the works for more money. But hey it is nice for the price. Could have been better and there is much left to be desited. The cover is made of genuine cardbard with a paper picture and a thin rubbery plastic spray to " protect" the nice picture on the cover and spine.I like this, but not in love. The redeeming factor in my purchase is the formating of the text (which is double column) and the fact that all his works are in one volume with all the lovely pictures. I agree that this will be read to my kids. Nut i will have to rebind this before passing it on. The quality is not as good as they advertized. The English is smoother though. The other redeeming factor is there is 1" wide ribbone in the book. Its massive. I giggled a bit when i saw it.If you watched the movie then you will definately want this edition.

Excellent edition of Pilgrims Progress with surprise extra features!
This must be a very close facsimile of the 1876 published book, I am sure. Included are footnotes, commentary, and Scripture references missing in the small paperback edition of Pilgrims Progress I read in the past. Those extra features add depth to the story and make it into a devotional book, as well as a novel. So far, I am finding it to be very inspirational! This edition also includes other works by John Bunyan I was unaware of. It is definitely a valuable collection of his inspirational writings and stories. But I can tell that the paper and binding are of somewhat lower quality, so it's important to handle this book carefully so as to prevent page tearing and collapsing the binding. But the quality of printing and the colored illustrations are superb. The only thing that I dislike is the very large print, and consequently, very large size of this book. It's a tome of about the same size as Webster's 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language. I actually have to hold the book quite a distance away because of the largeness of the font! It looks about like 24 point Times New Roman! I would prefer smaller print, and a smaller book. But other than this very small criticism, I highly recommend it.

Excellent Edition of The Pilgrim's Progress with commentary and other great writings of John Bunyan.
A Puritan classic, which is the best selling Christian book after the Bible,The Pilgrim's Progress used to be required reading for Evangelicals, but nowadays only about 10 percent of all Evangelicals will read this book. The book is based on the slow process of the conversion experience of John Bunyan in 17th Century England, where the Anglican Church clashed with the Non-Conformists. John Bunyan spent several years in prison, where he wrote both parts of the Pilgrim's Progress. This edition includes a commentary which Evangelical Christians may find very edifying. This "Collector's Edition" includes other major writings by John Bunyan, including The Holy War, which like the Pilgrim's Progress is an allegorical story, and Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners, which is Bunyan's personal conversion story, plus his Last Sermon, and several other works. As a student of Comparative Religion, The Pilgrim's Progress is one of my favorite books. I couldn't resist this edition because of the commentary and the inclusion of the other works by Bunyan.I would invite non-Evangelical Christians and Sunni and Shia Muslims to give Pilgrim's Progress a reading, perhaps in a less expensive edition, to see how a Puritan Evangelical Christian saw the World in 17th Century Britain when Evangelicals had few freedoms and were the persecuted people.

I'd buy it again
This book is a gem! It is far more than I ever expected, and it delights me every time I pick it up. It's full of beautiful pictures, and the type print makes it seem like it's a real historical masterpiece. It's much heavier than I expected, but so is the content. I have NO regrets and I consider it one of the best purchases I've ever made.

Big size but great otherwise
The binding is beautiful! Really like the illustrations. And wanted the original wording. It's like an epic poem. My only complaint is that the book is just so large! The print is large enough that my 90yr old Grandmother could read it without her glasses.

Beautiful Edition
I purchased this book in 2018. I received a beautifully printed edition. The old fashioned cover is reminiscent of an antique family Bible. The large print is eye easing, and a history of John Bunyan is included along with a couple of his other books and rather lengthy introduction to Pilgrims Progress. The pages are well printed, no smudges. I paid about €47 for it, a good price for a deluxe edition. 2018.
