Jared's Cool-Out Space

The book arrived with a slash on the cover.... only option I found was to return it and then possibly get another in replacement; but no time to explore that option.

My son was immediately spellbound by this book, which opens with the main character boy slamming the door open and kicking a table. Wham! There aren’t a lot of children’s books that show kids displaying negative emotions and showing how they process through them, so this is a major good find. He also loves the pictures of the planets in the book, and the pictures are really fun. I recommend this for any toddler parent!

My son loved it and wanted to create a calm down space at home immediately after reading this. I got this book because his school has implemented calm down corners and I wanted him to remember it’s there and he can go there when needed instead of getting outwardly angry about something. It is better to take a break and breathe. It has been helping. :) if anything this is a good reminder and fun book to read or have them read to you. We all need cool out spaces sometimes.

I love how quick and simple it is to read this to kids. The book engages kids and explains setting up a cooling off space. I also share it with parents to help them with the concept of setting up cooling off spaces with and for their kids (during calm times). Parents need cooling off spaces, too, so this book served as a good reminder of that and how we need to model positive behavior for kids, if that's what we want from them. This concept of cooling off before dealing with behavior challenges has been a lifesaver for me. Thank you for this book!

This book is a favorite with my family when any of us feel out of control, and emotions are taking over. The book inspired us to make a calming basket and a “cool-out space” for any of us to retreat to when needed.

I didn't find the book amazing, but my kids liked it and the message hit home. Recommend!

This book has helped me out calm down my 3 yr son. He asks for it every other night reading book.
