Salomon Quest Prime GORE-TEX Men's Backpacking Boot

It’s taken a while to get to the point where I have gotten enough use out of these to write a review. First of all, I don’t have much to compare these to. Until now I have been wearing Saucony trail shoes and found them really good for what I was using them for: mainly walking trails but no serious hiking. I have started hiking more demanding trails and have found the Salomon Quest boots to be more than equal to anything I can do with them. I thought they would need breaking in- not at all. Right out of the box they were more comfortable and supportive than anything I had ever worn. The first real test was a 9 mile hike on some pretty demanding trails in which they performed flawlessly. This was only the second time I had worn them, so that’s saying something. Okay, they are a bit pricey but not excessively and you certainly get your money’s worth. I can recommend them highly. Oh, on top of everything else, they are incredibly lightweight.

These boots seem very high quality. I have been looking for boots specifically to accommodate a bunionette, and these definitely had a wide enough toe box to do so. They are higher on the ankle and therefore would offer more ankle support, and the sole is thick and would be good for walking over rough terrain. I ended up returning only because the arch on the shoe did not fit the arch on my foot and therefore they were not as comfortable as I wanted to for long hikes. I would definitely recommend ordering at least a half size down. I normally wear an 8.5 or 9 but an 8 fit best in these.

I’ll start out with the only con I have- sizing: I went through 4 pairs to get the right size. I wear a 6.5-7 and tend to go to 7 in running/hiking shoes for a little more room. I ordered these in both 6.5 and 7 and both were huge. Returned and ordered 5.5 and 5 and ended up keeping the 5.5. Just something to note when ordering. On to the shoes themselves!I ordered these on the recommendation (insistence) of my Orthopedist after tearing a ligament in my ankle and fracturing several bones. After 16 weeks in an airboot and a (forced) very sedentary lifestyle, I was able to avoid surgery and I wanted to return to hiking. She insisted I only do so if I wear these. I completed my first hike post injury this weekend (Granted it was only 5 miles and nothing too extreme) But these boots were the key. As others have mentioned, there was zero break in time. Not one rub or any area of discomfort. The locking lace holder at the ankle was key as well. Great boots, great fit (once you figure out sizing) and they look good as well!

We live in Salomon hiking shoes and boots. They are true to size in their fit and really do not need to be broken in. They were worn all day the first day out of the box. They are light and comfortable immediately. That said, they do seem to break down quicker than I think they should.

These boots are perfect. My last pair were Salomons and I wore them to pieces over several years. I wanted another pair but the $$ price tag was steep! I looked at a different style "Salomon Quest Prime GORE-TEX Men's Backpacking Boot" than my previous b/c Amazon had a pair that were "Like New" and half the price!I took a gamble and it paid off financially and product satisfaction. The one area I kept debating was the overall boot height & shaft height.I recently took some pics I will be uploading to this review, but they were:6 1/2" from the floor to the REAR top of boot8 1/2" from floor to highest area on the boot tongueI would say they are 7 1/2" tall boots from the floor average.Comfortable out of the box. My son & I immediately went bouldering the day I got them & they were stellast. No break-in period.

These boots are wonderful! They literally needed NO breaking in. The first day that I wore them, I climbed one of the Adirondack High Peaks. I slipped them on, and hiked for 6 hours straight; not one bit of rubbing/soreness due to them being brand new. They are light and comfortable. They have terrific grip over wet/dry rock and ledge. I highly recommend these boots! The boots run a bit large, so if you are undecided...order a size down.

Ordered these Salomon women’s boots for upcoming backpacking trip in mountains of SC. Solomon shoes are the only shoes I can order in a women’s size and they actually fit me out of the box. I have wide feet and pretty bad bunions. These boots actually probably had a little wiggle room which I’m happy for because I can layer my socks or wear really thick hiking socks. They’re very sturdy, very thick sole which makes them a little more on the stiff side but great ankle support. I’d love if they were little bit more cushioned sole but inserts could probably help that

These boots are extremely well made and I recommend them. They are just a bit on the large size - I am a 7.5 and I have a bit more room with regular socks than I would like but with thicker hiking socks they are perfect. Good support without rubbing at the ankle and excellent traction which was what I was looking for.

Took a few short hikes to break in the boots. Very comfortable and the grip is great going downhill. Have not hiked in rain yet so hoping these boots keep dry.

Great boots fit right out of the box and for a good price my wife loves the color not to feminine but still nice looking

Estas botas son lo más. He perdido la cuenta de cuándo más compré. Más de dos años y siguen siendo super cómodas, impermeables , seguras y fuertes. Llevo media vida usando ésta marca especialmente, eventualmente otras. Éste es el mejor calzado que he tenido. Por cierto, andan solas!

These are very comfortable, substantial and light weight hikers that fit very well.
