Great, comfy saddle!
The original saddle that came on my Specialized Cross Trail Elite hybrid was stiff and not very wide--in short not comfortable for me on my bike commute. After some months I got a seat cover with gel padding for added comfort, but it would shift somewhat as I rode and over time the stitching frayed on the side from the friction with my pants. In researching a replacement, I wanted a saddle with some cushion and added width over my original one, and the Respiro Moderate fit the bill. The gel cushion is supple and is designed not to harden over time. The added bit of width of this saddle, combined with the ventilation channel, has also improved pressure distribution of my undercarriage (though I can't say I can actually feel the ventilation). I've had the Respiro for well over a year now and the comfort of my ride has greatly improved. No more do I have to stand occasionally while riding or reposition myself to alleviate the discomfort. After feeling the comfort of the saddle for herself, my girlfriend replaced the saddle on her Gary Fischer with the Respiro women's model and hasn't looked back. In short, this is a very comfortable and very well made saddle well suited to commuters and leisure riders (serious road bikers should look to other Selle Royal models). To people who say you just need to tough it out on a hard saddle, I say bull! An uncomfortable saddle is enough to keep many riders off their bikes.

Wider than standard size saddles, good venting
Got this hoping to relieve some of the uncomy pressure of long rides on my factory saddle. This is great for short rides but I've found that on longer rides, the seat seems to begin to feel wide, and now my butt just hurts in a different place. The venting is pretty cool and you can definitely feel the difference from a non-vented seat. Pretty light weight and easy to install. I just wish it was narrower or that the two "lumps" of the saddle were shallower. Although it does seem to relieve the pressure on the man-parts, as you pedal you can definitely feel each of the two sides digging into your groin. I'd say this saddle is a slight upgrade from a standard saddle, great for short rides, but not optimal for commuters or rides over 30 minutes.

Excellent --- but ... not perfect
I changed my stock Bontrager Evoke 1 saddle looking for more ventilation and a bit more comfort for long rides. I was not disappointed. I was amazed by it's comfort and was extremely happy with it .... but ...on a steep semi-technical decent, I had to slide back and set my abs on the saddle for control and .......... I was unable to get back on again. It's a bit to wide on the back !Overall an excellent, comfortable and well built saddle but a bit to wide for technical trails....Time to shop around for a new one. I'm inclined towards theSelle Italia Max Flite Gel Flow Men's Bicycle Saddleor theErgon SM3 Pro.....

Sitting on the seat rather than riding on the seat
I have ridden for over 50 years. I rode from above San Francisco to San Luis Obispo in the early seventies and didn't see another biker on the trip. Long days are long and can be stressful. On road bikes I used a Brooks. They are hard and unforgiving. Since then (in my dotage), I have graduated to a mountain bike as the wrist flex required doesn't hurt as that flexure required for a road bike. The mountain bikes have had a variety of seats, but as of late the seats have caused distress. Weighing over 200 pounds, I have the seat set back as far as possible in my large-framed, 29" mountain bike to ease the discomfort, but to no avail. I bought a Thompson setback seatpost and dialed it all the way angularly forward with the seat rails pressed as far aft as possible in the seat's clamping mechanism. No comfort came from that arrangement and Thompson really needs to redesign the adjustability of their setback seatpost so it really is adjustable forward for your generic saddle. Be that as it may, the purchase of this Selle Royal Respiro Moderate Saddle enables me to (with the Thompson setback) maintain the nose-down position of the saddle that allows me to sit on the rear portion of the saddle rather than ride the rail with my crotch.Oh, yeah, remember what Lance said about bicycling's discomforts? Lungs and heart, yes, it's got to be that way . . . crotch, no . . . I can't go along with that any longer. This is day one. I'll update this review if this all unravels, but so far so good.Buy it.

Good Seat but Broke
I purchased this seat about a year ago and I may have 500 miles on the seat. I noticed on my last ride that I was sitting a bit to one side. When I looked at the seat part of it had broken which caused it to sag to one side. It was not the cheapest seat, so I am a bit dissapointed that it did not last longer.UPDATE - Selle Royal has a 24 month warranty if it is purchased through "official channels" and Amazon is not and official channel and so I am stuck with a broken saddle. Do not purchase and expect any warranty on this product.

Amazingly comfortable seat.
I'm a clydesdale rider, and I'm just amazing at how comfortable this seat can be, especially given my weight and off road bumps under a mountain bike, the center grove helps eliminate that "Numb area." issue some riders might experiance, It's wide enough but again the so wide where it'll creat chaffing, however I always recommend proper fitment before you purchase any seat.Remember any saddle should support your sitbones properly for the best fit.Now the bad, and I believe it's going to be a case-by-case basis and could have just been a singular issue, but I did have to exchange my original seat when I found the screws that held in place "Air channel" guide I found were seated very well and eventually "popped" out under the flex of the seat under normal normal use. however that might just be an invidual case, however I found the "air vent" isnt really even needed on the saddle. and otherwise this really is a very comfortable item and worth every dollar to me.
