100's of uses - i.e. 3D printer Optical Limited Switch
This is a great little device - definitely worth having in your box of bits & pieces. It can be used as an optical limit switch for 3D printers. Another use could be a physical door open/close switch with a small rod/bar to activate the switch (by breaking the switches optical link). It's a high quality, well made device - 100% recommended - no issues. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! AAA+++

Neat little sensor for counting rotations
This is a photo sensor that counts pulses of light through a rotating perforated disk. I got it for coin-op machine, and I'm hoping that the disk supplied can be replaced with a larger one; but I haven't tried yet. As supplied it worked right out the box. There's documentation online at the website above and examples for Arduino and Raspberry Pi. Great stuff!

Great little board
Nice to have a preassembled board in a good storage packaging which can be integrated into hobby solutions. Definitely a great investment/ present for your Geek.

Good sensor but needs better support
This is a very well made and compact sensor with many potential uses. It records the interruptions of an IR sensor which makes it ideal for detecting movements such as fan rotations or motor rotations. The sensor has an excellent response time but the support is not as good on the manufacturers wiki as it is for their other products. The example code only comes with binary detection and not with full code for measuring rotation speed.

simple to use, worked as expected
this is a very simple photo sensor that works with arduino, it return 0 when the sensor is blocked, else return 1 to the input gpio pin no instruction included with the sensor kit, but there is a wiki url in the product page, that contains a sample arduino code, easy to understand and ready to use, my whole setup and coding (copy) all completed in just 5 minutes there is a little encoder disk included in the sensor kit, i used it in a test project, which measures the rpm of my electric screwdriver the photo sensor worked as expected, seems it matched the speed change and the maximum rpm measured was very close to the official specification i’m very satisfied with the product and would recommend it! hope you find these information helpful

small photo sensor
easy to install sensor for further projects with the pi, not sure what i am going to use this for yet but with the pi there are always plenty of projects to do, nicely packaged and connections are easy to access

Compact and well made unit.
This is a neat little photo sensor that will detect breaks in between the two sensors. The item comes in a nice little box with "Sensor" written on the top. At least it will be easier to write a better description on the label than try to write on the anti-static bag it is packaged with inside. Most items don't get a box or label so I'm constantly peering through the tinted plastic to see what's inside. The board is much better made than some I'v had. All SMD's look well soldered. They flying leads come terminated with female connectors for Arduino/Raspberry Pi devices, and there's even a Velcro strap around them. The board has an LED for power, and another for the signal. Operation is easy, and they even supply a URL for the datasheet. The sensors have a 4.8mm gap. The supplied wheel has a diameter of 25.7mm, with the inner shaft hole 3.5mm x 5mm. You can see it's slightly rounded at the ends to fit most flattened spindles. It has 20 holes. Overall a quality sensor that functions perfectly.

Great for a exploring enginering
My son loves doing little projects. He has a Micro bit processor. It is a great addition to his little box of trick with all the cables and part to build up with the Microbit..
