Star Wars The Black Series 6-Inch Rey (Jakku) and BB-8

Very nice figures. Check out the pictures I took of them.
The seller I bought it from (ToyFuzz) doesn't seem to protect the package very well. The box was ruined when I got it. It was practically almost opened from the top side. Doesn't matter to me though, just keep that in mind.Rey's figure is pretty nicely sculpted. Keep in mind I'm an amateur collector. I love Star Wars, though, which is why I'm hyped for these Black Series figures. Her skirt is a little stuff so moving/posing legs is a little tough. I am currently trying to figure out some good poses with her staff. BB-8 is nice and simple. The lower portion of its body does not roll. Its head does, however. You can turn its head and move it a little bit back and forth and side to side.Check out these pictures I took with a Canon 70D.

Thank You Disney, Rey is an AWSOME New Character!
Spoiler Free Section:Choosing a #1 favorite Star Wars character is like choosing a favorite child or parent, but she is definitely up there with my favorites. After seeing the movie I have wanted to add a Rey figure to my black series collection more than any other character, even Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma. I was stupid enough to pass on this at a retail store for $20.00, bad mistake! I later had a strong desire to get her after seeing the movie. Long story short, I ended up paying nearly $50.00 for this figure. I admit, unless you are a fan of the BB-8 design, you likely will not be interested in the figure. Needless to say, I saw the film, loved the character and had to get this. But enough about my story.I have heard nearly only complaints about this figure. Mainly things like, lacking detail on Rey, paint imperfections and her flawed accessory. I am willing to over look all of these because I love what the figure offers. She is dressed in her "scavenger" outfit (as it says in the description of the figure). People have complained constantly about the fact that she lacks detail that resembles dirt and weathering; basically saying that she looks too clean. True, but at least her robes are made out of plastic instead of cloth (thank god). In my opinion, I hate cloth. Cloth very typically does not stay in the position that is intended, it gets very dirty, and frays up all the time. The sculpt for her robes that we got looks great. She comes with a "staff". This accessory is very simple, just a dark grey piece of plastic with a few painted details. The staff has a very sturdy strap, that probably was designed to allow Rey to carry it over her shoulder. The problem is that if you attempt this, paint from the strap will rub on her robes. This will definitely bother some of us. This is just a word of warning. I find that it is very difficult to make a successful head sculpt for Star Wars characters who don't wear masks. It is very difficult to get the human face to look natural on a toy. Luckily, my figure has a very nice looking face. I can honestly say that the figure that I personally received looks a lot like Daisy Ridley (the actress of Rey). To put it simply, others have not been so lucky. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee of getting a good head sculpt for Rey, it's hit or miss, as it seems. Rey comes with a BB-8, an accessory. People have nagged that this is better than the actual figure, I would say that they are about equal in quality. At the end, it depends on who your favorite character is. BB-8's body is made out of heavy plastic, necessary to allow him to roll into a centered position. His head is articulated by a ball-joint (a magnet would have been better). I admit that BB-8 has better paint than Rey. He has all the paint textures and weathering details that Rey was missing. BB-8 may be cool, but remember, he is only a head attached to a ball, don't expect any more than that. You will be able to appreciate this figure more if you have seen the movie: Star Wars The Force Awakens. Unlike other Star Wars figures like, Stormtroopers and Boba Fett where you buy them based on their interesting appearances, you are more likely to buy this figure because of the character. I do not recommend this figure to younger children. This is simply too fragile for young ones to be handling. This is definitely better suited for teen to adult Star Wars collectors. I definitely recommend getting this figure to fill your Black Series collection. If you are buying this four yourself, you are likely either a Star Wars collector or a fan of Rey's character. Thank you for reading my review. I hope I have helped you out!Spoiler Section:These are my minor nit-picks that spoil parts of the movie. I understand that they wanted to keep her force sensitivity a secret before the release, but I really wish that she came with a blue lightsaber. That would have been AWSOME in my opinion! Even better, I REALLY wish that she came with the mask and goggles that she wore in the trailer as well as the film. I also wish that they gave her the small pistol that she used at one point in the movie. I would have taken all of these accessories over BB-8. Of course, this is all my opinion that I wanted to share. Again, thank you again for reading. I hope I have helped you out!

Good figure but not my favorite Force Awakens Black Series figure
Of the new characters in The Force Awakens, Rey is probably my favorite with Kylo Ren. The 6-inch Black Series figure though, is good but has some flaws. First her accessories. Rey comes with her staff, which has good detail and paint, but I kind of wish the shoulder strap was made of softer vinyl to make it easier to slip on her shoulder. Otherwise, I like it. She also comes with BB-8. BB-8 is probably the most accurate of the two figures here. He has sculpted detail on the body sphere and the dome head. The paint on him is the best part. Everything looks like he did in the movie. Even the circular things on the body sphere have different sculpts and detail. For articulation, he has 2 ball joints connecting the head and body for some movement. My only issue with it is that he doesn't stand up well a lot. I have him sitting on a soda bottle cap upright. As for Rey herself, the sculpt is good, and most of the paint is alright. The issues I have with the paint are on her face and arms. I think her skin is slightly too pale, and something about the face seems off. The lips are also not painted completely which will look odd. The other paint looks good. Her clothes, bag, and her hair look good. She has a decent range of articulation. her head is on a ball joint, she has full movement in the shoulders, arms, and wrists, and she has full movement in the legs which is sometimes hindered by her outfit, which is made of softer vinyl. The waist does move, but mine is a little stiff. Other than the paint issues, Rey is a pretty solid figure. For the main figures, I'd give Rey a 4/5 for the paint issues, and I'd give BB-8 a 5/5. I bought this in November, and I've heard there's been a recent repaint released of the same figure that I haven't gotten yet. I also have the newer K-Mart exclusive, which I think is superior, but it has different accessories. This Rey and BB-8 are still both really good figures and I'd recommend picking them up if you liked them in the movie. I did.

BB8's head is grey and there was no light saber with Rey
not much else to say, the Rey figure is a poor sculpt, the head is always looking down. no light saber included, BB8's head is grey and doesn't match the body. I'm a fan of the black series, but this is a low point for me.
