80 something fashion star
Purchased as a gift for a 92 year old who no longer reads sustained narratives but is still interested in books. Although of coffee table type it is not too bulky for her to handle. She enjoyed all the pictures and learning about the craftsmanship in making the dresses and hats. Her 95year old spouse, still a very active reader, picked it up out of curiosity and reported he liked reading about how royal trips and wardrobe dept. are organized. I also think some of the appeal was that the Queen is a contemporary of theirs and someone they have read about, not necessarily in a focused way but in simply following the news, for many years. Not many of their contemporaries are still active. I also read the book,it doesn't take long, and found the descriptions of craftsmanship and organization intriguing, the writing style serviceable if a bit overwrought, and the volume well produced physically.

A delightful and detailed glimpse in how Queen Elizabeth is dressed and accessorized for her royal role!
This book gives a detailed description of how Angela Kelly, the Queen's chief dresser/designer, works with her staff to keep Queen Elizabeth II beautiful and immaculately turned out throughout 2012, her Diamond Jubilee year. Ms. Kelly's prose and the photographs provide a peek behind the castle walls to show how fabrics are chosen, how designs are created, what fittings are like, how hats are created, and how all the queens clothes, hats, shoes, handbags, and jewels are stored. The photographs of some of the Queen's jewels are exquisite. Nothing about the Queen's appearance is left to chance. She even has umbrellas to match each outfit. One can also see that Her Majesty knows a great deal about how she wants to be presented. Her instincts after 62 years on the throne can be relied on. She has the final say.

Beautiful glimpse into the dressing of Queen Elizabeth II
This gorgeously photographed book is a fabulous look into the wardrobe of Queen Elizabeth through the eyes of her chief dresser (and friend) Angela Kelly. Ms. Kelly's writing is chatty and warm; you really feel like she is having a cuppa and sharing the dish on a fabulous boss with you. The photographs of the clothing, fabrics, and (most especially) the jewels are fabulous. I wish there were more captions on the photographs of the jewels. Those of us who love the Queen's jewels are in the know about many pieces, but there are plenty more I would have loved to have gotten more info about, but the photographs are just stunning. The photographs of Queen Elizabeth in this book are great, too. There is one where she is wearing the dress in the cover photo, and she's got her hands in the pockets, and she just looks so sassy!Bottom line: If you like sewing, fabric, beading/embellishment, Queen Elizabeth, fashion, jewels, or dress design, you will probably like this book!

you might enjoy The Queen's Diamonds that was released around the same ...
While this book won't provide you with any real "secrets" of Queen Elizabeth, it is a very interesting look at the planning that goes into some of her major events. There are some very interesting tidbits and photos of some of the pieces the Queen wears, just not really so much about the Queen's choices themselves. If you are interested in royalty, or Queen Elizabeth specifically, this could be a very interesting coffee table book to own. However, if you are really only a jewel lover, you might enjoy The Queen's Diamonds that was released around the same time as this book.

Dressing The Queen
Angela Kelly's Dressing The Queen was more so of a commemorative publication in observance of The Queen's Jubilee. While informative, there wasn't much new information if any in with regard to HM wardrobe other than all the previously shared, and published information in prior books, news articles the like. The pictures and quality of paper used for pages were splendid. I was disappointed that there were not more in depth pictures of the Royal Jewel paura history and how HM chooses the ones she'll wear. The highlight was the gesture of HM striking a models pose for the project in a jovial manner as her consent and approval of the project.

Truly enjoyable book.
Ok, I will admit it, I am an anglophile and have been fascinated by the royal family since I was a little girl. The photos and narrative are wonderful, as well as the rare look into the The Queen's wardrobe (and wishing, again that I was british and a expert seamstress and worked for her, too) what no one has mentioned are the photos of The Queen modeling a couple of her dresses. i have never seen her look so relaxed and happy-except the few times caught in private moments on film..they are wonderful. I really enjoyed the book. And now, I will apply for a housekeeping position at B.P just kidding, they don't hire Americans, anyway.

Interesting
This book was very interesting as far as it went. It was a bit superficial because I'd read most of this before. I did still enjoy it, though. If I'd seen it in an actual bookstore and could have looked through it, though, I probably would not have bought it.If you're a student of the British Monarchy, it wouldn't have been anything new. If, however, you don't know much about the royal family, it's a great book.

Beautiful coffee table book to enjoy again & again.
It was in excellent condition. The corners of the hardback cover were slightly wrinkled but inside it was like new. Beautiful photos brought the Queen's clothing to life & the images of her jewellery nearly jumped off the page! The quality of the paper used was testament to the overall quality of this publication. I am so glad I bought it for myself (at an amazingly bargain price compared to other sellers) & it will be a book I know I'll enjoy for years to come.I have read other books by Angela Kelly & they are a wonderful & fascinating insight into the creation of the Queen's wardrobe.I look forward to more!

Loved this and my copy was A+ condition used sooooooo happy would have paid full price for the info it contains what a gem and left now on added to small listed of books on my coffee table as a book for any guests who may fancy a browse.Well done Angela Kelly you've made fantastic coats, dresses and hats for HM The Queen and you also look after the person jewelry collection(not owned by The Crown) and you have an MVO awarded to you and award in the Mornarchs personal gift, given for gratitude of fantastic service provided. Much deserved and I love how The Queen was more than happy to give you the blessing for this.Long may you continue with your team Angela as even at an off duty even HM The Queen ALWAYS looks great in my honest opinion.PS you also find out that The Queen has A LOT of input into all her bespoke dresses and coats to match, she knows what she likes and what looks good on Her.
