This first-time pool owner was presented with a disgustingly dirty pool, full of leaves
Let's cut the confusion. Correct any misunderstandings you may have about the Aquabot X4. I have found it to be a highly effective, dependable tool for my in-ground pool. I have had the X4 for 2 months; received on May 18, writing this review on July 16. Here's our family's story about owning it in that period of time.We named our Aquabot "Fred." Fred had a huge challenge on the day he was unboxed. We were first-time pool owners and had to quickly learn about how to care for a pool. We booked our pool opening for June 5, planning for time to learn how to maintain a pool, but the pool company mistakenly opened it on May 5! This first-time pool owner was presented with a disgustingly dirty pool, full of leaves, dirt and a tree debris. I had already been looking into the many pool-bot models out there and settled on the X4 that day, receiving it 3 days later. Fred had to work hard that first day, having to set him on three 2-hour cleaning cycles. I marveled as Fred went through his paces and had to unload and clean the two completely full filters after each cycle, removing tree debris, dirt and other small particles. The result...a clean pool. Amazing.Since that day, Fred has gone through his paces leaving a clean pool each time. We have large trees nearby and the leaves and debris are constantly finding their way into our pool, even now in July. The X4 has three cleaning durations- 30 min, 60 min, and 2 hours. We always select the 2-hour cycle and it does the trick. When out of town, we leave it on the 2 hr/48 hr automatic cycle or have a family member stop by and hit the 2-hour cycle button. The two reusable filters are easy to empty and clean with a hose. We leave the computer unit plugged in and Fred sits on his supplied caddy when not in use, making it easy to drop into the pool and push the button. Others may need to use it less often, but we use it daily. We have NEVER had an issue with a tangled cable. It has NEVER gotten stuck on the drain or in a corner. It DOES climb walls, all the way to the top, even in the 8' deep end. It DOES climb steps. The build quality seems solid and its daily use is easy and dependable. I also like the fact that it filters the water and evens out the pool chemicals as it cleans. My rating is 5 stars, even though their is a minor issue. Our pool's deep end has sharp creases in the floors edge. Because of the angle any pool bot would have to travel, it sometimes misses small particles of dirt. This also is true of our steps. But if I do a very quick brushing with the pool brush/pole of those creases and steps, our pool is completely clean after the 2-hour cycle. I'm happy with that.I realize that the 3 year warranty is nice, but because of its heavy use at our place and all of the reviews out there of how these products break down, I spent the $61 for the 4 year replacement warranty. I would rather pay $61 now than $600 then. We're very happy with Fred. But if you buy the Aquabot X4, you'll have to use a different name; Fred is already taken!

Great Vac, makes life easier!!!
I’ve shopped for a pool vac for over a year. We have a pool service that comes weekly to check the chemicals and vacuum, but I found myself constantly having to pull out the old hose and pole vac, which is such a pain. I began shopping online and read tons of reviews, finally deciding on this Aquabot. I’ve had it for about a month now and am very happy with its performance. It is very easy to set up: take it out, remove tape that holds everything down during shipping, and pull down the suction vents. Place it in the water and plug it in! That’s it.After a week of using it, I called my pool guy and changed our service to chemicals only. It cleans good, not perfect, but good. I find that it has a little trouble getting the dead bugs off the bottom in the corners of my rectangular in- ground pool. I will sometimes use my brush to sweep them toward the center while it’s running, which takes about 2 minutes. I also find that in order to get every bug and leaf, I sometimes have to run it on two 3-hour cycles. I’m fine with it though, because it means I’m not out there sweating for an hour with the pole vac. It picks up A LOT of sand, which is great. When the filter gets full, it stops moving and blinks the filter light on the power box. The filter sides are usually covered in sand when this happens. So, I spray it out with the hose and let it get back to work. My one complaint is that when I lift it out of the pool, it leaves small particles that fall back in the water. I just skim these up, no biggie. It climbs walls all the way to the water line and freaks out the dog.Overall, this bot makes my life easier, so it gets all of its stars. It works well and keeps my pool clean!UPDATE: Towards the end of the summer, lightning zapped our power supply. Thankfully, I had sent in the warranty papers within 10 days like you’re supposed to. I called the customer service number and had a new power box in a few days. Excellent customer service, another plus!UPDATE 2020: “Wall-E”, as our bot has affectionately become known as, has been working hard all spring and is into his second summer of dead spider eating. Still going strong and we love him! There is a little wear on the wheel tracks, and I haven’t been able to find replacement ones online yet. I will probably see if that’s something covered under the warranty eventually.

Good concept, but overall unit not of quality
Good concept, but overall unit not of quality. The floats inside compartment is nearly impossible to attach to unit. The lids on the 2 filters pop open as soon as you remove the filters from cleaner causing debris to go all over the deck. Filter basket is made of very thin plastic. I used the unit one time and I can tell this will be a unit that needs replacement parts every few months. The foam on wheels will deteriorate with very little use. Lastly the 1 brush in the center and bottom of the unit doesn't allow for unit to clean at sides of pool and can't reach the top near waterline. Leaves about 12" around perimeter of pool and at top of waterline. Great marketing, but product doesn't meet those expectations. I can't see this unit lasting 3 years as warr. Suggest. There are plenty of good cleaners out there, unfortunately this isn't one of them. I am going to try another cleaner. I hope this helps you make a good decision. Good luck!

Great product!
We have a 20x40 in ground pool that is 15 years old-so pump and filtration system are sometimes delicate. We also have a lot of pine trees around the pool property. Using the vac that hooked up to the skimmer lines always resulted in much frustration because we always lost suction (assuming we could establish some in the first place) This robot vac has been life-changing as far as the pool goes. It is easy to set up and does a great job cleaning the pool; most importantly, it doesn't depend on the circulation system of the pool (we had a Polaris 360-which was a nightmare) The only slight negative is that cleaning the filters isn't ideal. There are 2 baskets, which is great; but there are nooks where debris gets caught and it isn't super easy to completely clean them out

Fantastic little machine!
I've had an aquabot turbo t2 for years but this little machine is far superior. It is lighter, much, much easier to clean and has an amazing no-tangle hose that is just wonderful. I spent way too much time untangling the hose on the turbo t2. And the Aquabot X4 costs about half of what I spent on the turbo t2.I highly recommend this little unit. It does a great job cleaning the pool and is easy to maintain and doesn't need time spent on untangling the hose.I'd buy it again.

Arrived quickly, followed quick start guide, plugged it in and it cleaned my pool. Just what I wanted it to do.
