I Could Pee on This: And Other Poems by Cats (Gifts for Cat Lovers, Funny Cat Books for Cat Lovers) Review: I could pee on this book, it's so good. - I could not love this book of poems more. Freaking hilarious. My kids have read it aloud repeatedly to anyone who will listen, and they quote it often. I love the CAT ANGST, and I love that it reads like traditional poetry (not like limericks) only from the perspective of cats. It's absolute perfection. I could say "purr-fection," but I'm not a dork. Review: small hardcover, glossy pics, charming & funny poems, nice addition to a gift basket - Super cute, totally worth it for the chuckle. I bought this for a friend as part of an upcoming Christmas gift. I didnt fully open the book as I didnt want to crack the spine (its a fresh book!), but I took a peek and could make out some of the poems. Just charming. Small hardcover, makes a nice little coffee table book, bathroom book, part of a gift, would be pleasant as a get well gift as it is sure to bring on some good feels. To reiterate: this is a small book at 5" x 6", and is just 112 pages. Not 112 poems. I dont know how many. Lots of glossy pics. Was able to buy it at less than $10, so I figured that was a decent price for a gift. I had originally put this in a "list" several years ago, but it was much too pricy at the time. A good greeting card can easily be $5-9 these days, so I will be using this in a sense as a card. As in, I will jot a little note inside when I tuck this in among other things in the gift.

Much smaller than it looks, but cute and cleverly-written
This is a cute gift for any cat lover, though it's much tinier than I expected! I won't rate it lower because of my own failure to check the dimensions, but please note that it's smaller than it appears. It's about the width of my wee lady hands and not quite as tall. Size aside, the book itself is good quality. The cover and binding both seem sturdy, and the pages are thick and glossy. Though I wish the font was slightly bolder, the print is adequately large. The jacket looks great aside from some very light damage along the top. It tends to fall off during use, but I don't find that bothersome as I tend to remove jackets while reading anyway. Though the book is cleverly-written, it's a bit light on content overall as there are fewer poems and more pictures than I anticipated. Many of the former are fairly short, and I often found myself wanting more. However, much like the variety of simple poetic structures used throughout, the brevity is likely an artistic choice meant to enhance immersion. After all, it's probably quite tough to compose prose with paws. The colorful photos, though more plentiful than expected, certainly add to the book's charm. All in all, paging through it is an enjoyable experience that will likely evoke just as many smiles the second time around. I do think the default price was perhaps a tad steep for such a tiny, quick read, but it wasn't a bad value on sale. I actually bought it as a gift, which is why I'd hoped it would be slightly larger. After doing my due diligence by reading it thoroughly, I still thought it would make a nice present.

Gateway Poetry
My kiddo, now seventeen, has never taken to poetry. I had Shel Silverstein and later, I fell in love all over again with Emily Dickinson. This collection made my daughter laugh. She loves reading her favorites aloud for our family. It’s been a sneaky way to prepare her for the ACT as it’s fun to discuss explications and figurative language. Its beautiful and well worth buying.

LOWLY HUMAN STILL LEARNING
Well, Cat. I do believe you know all about it. You describe exactly what happens. In my home, with two wonderful cats who own me, everything was fine as far as the pee went. No problems. They staked out their territory in the house without having to do that. Then the neighbor cat came in through the cat door. How dare he. Then the pee wars started. I guess you can understand that, but I, being a humble servant didn't like it very well as I was the one who had to clean it up. I know. I know. I should have just left it there and they wouldn't have needed to do it so many times. But since I am a bit picky, I did clean it up. The situation is under control for me now, but the neighbor cat had to go to the vet and came home without some of his parts. He doesn't like to come in anymore. I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. I know this is a tragic story and I should understand the fine art of the pee war and not interfere since I am only the lowly human who lives in this house and constantly interferes in the lives of the cats. Very, Very necessary book for cat lovers.

Worth It.
My niece picked this up from a shelf because there was a cat on the cover. I asked her if she had read the title, and no, she had not. The owner told us how he had found it in a thrift store and laughed out loud reading it... So I ordered a copy to gift my niece. I read it just to make sure the contents were friendly for an 8 year old (and for the most part, they are, but there are some more mature contexts that I did not want to have to explain to her, so we are going to wait to hand it over until she's a bit older) ...But I did, in fact, laugh out loud while reading it. If you are a cat lover, you'll get it. It is a great book for the coffee table.
