Beautiful
I teach 4th grade. This is one of the most beautiful picture books I've ever seen. The illustrations are magnificent.

Hunt for the frog.
I needed a jumping off point for children to do their own art work. This book was cute and had kids looking for the frog in a "Where's Waldo" sort of way. Nice illustrations. Not heavy on plot. I would recommend, whether or not you have "Philippe" and want a Monet book for children.

Beautiful
This is a really cute book. The art work is beautiful. I ordered it before taking my granddaughter to the Monet exhibit at the Kimbell. She recognized his work and was looking for the frog!

Great book for helping children appreciate art without being boring!
My girls loved this book ! It was a great story and conversation piece for getting them to pay closer attention to Impressionist artists at museums. However, they were really bummed to find out that there were no frogs to really find in the real paintings! It was a good buy and I recommend! I also enjoyed the notes from the author.

A Modern "Where's Waldo?"
This stunningly illustrated book encourages kids not only to look for the frog, but exposes them to the wonderful watercolors of Monet's great water lilies paintings. Much more stimulating than "Where's Waldo?" Perfect for babies through whenever kids prefer to read chapter books.

What a shame
Lovely pictures - of course: they're Monet's - and idea but I was very disappointed. First of all I thought a page was missing as there was no introduction to Antoinette the frog or to explain her mission to be in a picture. I think it is meant for fairly young children but I found the language contrived and inappropriate - would they know what a muse, nymph or gargoyle were? Also about the last third of the book is simply about Monet, with probably little interest for small children - certaijnly no "fun". I tried at first reading the text as poetry but soon realised there was no rhythm or rhyme. From the description, and a mention of "Where's Wally" in another review, I hoped it would involve a search on every page for a frog in various Monet pictures. (I remember Richard Scarry's Trucks and Things that Go with a search for Goldbug in every single busy page which my, now grown-up, sons absolutely loved - they still look at it when they are home to see if they can remember where Goldbug is! I could never get rid of it!)This book could have used many of Monet's pictures each with a frog to find and perhaps other things to notice so that children could learn to "look at" and enjoy art, plus a fun story. An opportunity missed.I have given it 2 stars - for the actual presentation of the book, and Monet's paintings.I bought it for my son (a long-time frog fan!) to read to his young daughters but have returned it as it is definitely not worth the postage to them in Hong Kong. Thank you Amazon for making returns so easy.

Great book for kids and adults
As a painter I am delighted to find such a creative book for kids using Monet paintings as the background.
