Best and Easiest Exerciser to Build Up My Legs!!
Bought this exerciser a week ago and absolutely love it. Previously, I had owned a recumbent bike and it was great except for the size and weight which made it difficult to move.I have balance issues with dizziness and vertigo and have arthritic knees and my knee caps become dislocated from time to time causing excruciating pain. The doctor advised me that my knees will continue to dislocate, so I should build up the muscle around my knees and concentrate to not twist or turn them. Generally I walk fine but when my knee or knees act up or I have balance issues, I am forced to use a cane, occasionally a walker and/or sit in a recliner chair with my knees up. So in my late 60's it's important to me that I become more mobile without pain.I wanted an exerciser that I could use inside or outside, that would be stable not moving on it's own, and be effective helping my knees and balance - and be affordable. I did quite a bit of research before buying including looking at various reviews on amazon and other sites and also visited the local sporting stores to try out their products.I am so glad I decided to purchase this Exerpeutic Motorized Mini ACTIVCycle. I actually purchased it on Amazon as used being shipped by Amazon saving about $12. It arrive within 2 days on prime, in perfect condition, completely put together and was only missing the instruction booklet that I am sure must have been included in the original - but I really don't need it as it is so easy to use.It is so easy, you plug it in, turn it on, move the knob for your speed (the knob is on a long cord so you can hold it on your lap) and pedal. It has a black handle on top so I use it siting in my recliner chair with the foot section down or on the patio chair. The shipping weight is 22 pounds so I am estimating that the Cycle weighs about 15 pounds and easy enough for me to move. The Cycle is very stable, I use it on a rug and it does not shift position and when on the patio I use the mat that is enclosed with it and it also doesn't shift position. It is extremely quiet almost forgetting it has a motor. I can be barefoot in the foot pedals or wear shoes; or I can actually put my feet on top of the foot strap and use it without my feet enclosed. Additionally, there is a monitor on the front that counts current reps, total reps from multiple uses, time, calories and distance.I do 1000 reps in about 15 minutes and have had no discomfort. Most days I keep the knob at medium power but on days when my knees feel great, I actually don't turn power on and just pedal on my own.The only thing that could make it better would be if the cord with the knob were a bit longer. It's about 2 1/2 feet and would be better at 4 feet - but that's just me. It does stretch so probably will be stretched to that point later after more use.A great product that I highly recommend!

If you know anyone with Parkinson's, read this!
My ACTIVCycle arrived today. I actually bought it for my husband who was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. After my husband's diagnosis, I scoured the internet and found several articles on Dynamic High-Cadence Cycling which is a fancy way of saying Cycling While Pedaling Real Fast :) A doctor discovered the benefits of this type of exercise for Parkinson's patients and there is a very expensive product on the market called a Theracycle; I wasn't willing to invest that much money at this time so I looked for an alternative and found the ACTIVCycle here on Amazon.I tried it out myself today and it does have one drawback: The straps on the pedals are not big enough to accommodate my rather large tennis shoes and I found it uncomfortable to pedal sock footed (mainly due to a foot problem I have, won't bore you with the details). However, I just turned the pedals around and I was able to pedal without a strap at all (the traction on the bottom of my shoes prevented my feet from slipping)..This tiny drawback was not enough to deduct a star. I gave it five stars because it seems very sturdy, is quite portable, and the motor is very quiet. Plus it does what it sets out to do.Before purchasing the ACTIVCycle I was already using the MagneTrainer-ER Mini Exercise, also purchased on Amazon; I like it very much. The main difference is the ACTIVCycle PEDALS FOR YOU. So anyone with an impairment who otherwise could not cycle can use it. Also, since the machine is doing the "heavy lifting" so to speak you can go quite fast even if you are physically impaired or merely out of shape. I think I will use both, as they kind of offer different advantages, but for my husband the ACTIVCycle is his best bet due to the research noted above involving Dynamic High-Cadence Cycling. So far my husband is able to get around okay because he's in the early stages, but why not be proactive and get with the program now. (If you want to learn more about the research referenced above regarding PD patients, just Google: Benefits of Dynamic High-Cadence Cycling for Parkinson's).Incidentally, the ACTIVCycle is beneficial for people with other issues besides Parkinson's; literally anyone who wants to spend less time on the couch and increase circulation should benefit.ETA: The ACTIVCycle max speed is about 83 RPM whereas the Parkinson's studies on high speed assisted pedaling recommend 75-80 or 80-90 RPM. My husband tried it today and he really liked it as he could watch TV quite easily while pedaling :) And it didn't seem to bother his back or his knees which are problem areas. We have no plans to buy the more expensive bike (Theracycle) at this time as I'm not 100% convinced it would be that much more beneficial, but then again I'm not qualified to say one way or the other. ETA: (One Month Later) Hubby loves it, he does it every day. He is still able to go to the gym and take walks and will continue to do so as long as he is able, but the ActivCycle seems to be of added benefit towards keeping him happy and energized.
