Best vacuum I have ever used! Doggy glitter has met it's match!
This is by far and away the absolute best vacuum I have ever used, let alone owned. For context, I have 2 dogs that together, leave enough doggy glitter around the house each day that one might think dust bunnies are real animals. I also live in a state with red dirt and I have allergies to everything that was every created on this great big round planet. That being said, I spent a lot of time researching the best non-commercial use vacuum that would accommodate our dander and dust heavy lifestyle. I could not have made a better choice. The suction on this is incredible. I had JUST vacuumed my closet with my old vacuum earlier that day and proceeded to vacuum it with my new vacuum, and it felt like a new floor. Also, with the filters in the vacuum, I suddenly was rid of a doggy odor I didn't even realize was there. It was actually unbelievable. Anyone around me for the following 2 weeks could not escape my raving about this vacuum. It was in that moment that I also realized I was getting old because I was excited about a vacuum, but that's beside the point. It's incredibly easy to use, lightweight and easily maneuvers around toys, chair legs and under furniture. I have used it on tile, high pile carpet, low pile rugs and even cowhide (I know, I know, I'm not supposed to vacuum it but just ignore that part). It has an auto shutoff on the spinning part if you accidentally start sucking up something like an upturned rug corner or, I dunno, the boho curtains with the little tassels you just had to buy in extra long length so they drag on the floor. I can say with 100% certainty that this is one of the best if not the best vacuum on the market that is relatively affordable while still being a powerhouse without breaking the bank. If you need a vacuum, look no further. Trust me, I did the research, this is a must buy!!

Works as a vacuum should
I’ve had this vacuum for exactly 2 weeks. I use it nearly daily, sometimes twice a day. No pets, but a handful of small children that like to leave a trail of crumbs. We also have had a revolving door of visitors in this timeframe. Based on the other reviews, I was expecting some sort of miracle machine. Maybe my expectations in general are too high, but I give this 5 stars merely because it meets my minimum standards for what I expect out of a household vacuum. It has great suction. It’s pretty much bringing our carpet back to life. Our old vacuum still works (so I thought) but was definitely dying (purple shark idk actual version, I loved it for 8+ years, it took many beatings, survived many cross country military moves well). As an experiment today (2 weeks post purchase), I vacuumed our living room entirely with our old purple vacuum and then immediately again with this new version. Pictured is what our old vacuum left over for our new version to pick up. Clearly, this one out ranks our old, beat up friend by a mile. I cannot vacuum small rugs with this without getting it clogged, it’s too strong in any of the settings. This new one is doing some serious work for us. Again, maybe I’m expecting too much, but this is just what I imagine a well made vacuum—especially at this price—to do. Also pictured are the rollers. I have not cleaned them at all, and they look fresh out of the box. No pet hair in the house, but my daughter and I have long hair. Plus like I said, we’ve also had many guests, so it’s been tested. The attachments are fine. Both standard attachments fit perfectly on the bottom as seen in the last picture, so I don’t get the upset in the other reviews on this aspect. I don’t like the location, I prefer them near the handle since I do use them very often. This I can get over though. Only had one fall off once, but that was due to me bumping it. I do like the long, narrow attachment better than the old version. The brush is an adjustment. It’s larger than the old standard ones. It does also pop off the hose frequently which is frustrating. I’m still getting used to it, but I’m sure it’ll be a non-issue within the next couple of weeks. I don’t think the size is really any better or worse than the old one. The extra mini roller attachment is just ok. It kinda works, not as well as I’d like. Maybe I need to keep using it to get better with it. There’s no spot on the vacuum to store it, so it’s basically nonexistent in my mind. The longer cord is also taking a bit to get used to with handling it, but overall I do very much appreciate the additional length. The canister does seem a tad smaller, but for the results, I don’t mind. Pops on and off easily, opens easily to dump. With this design, no hair or stings get tangled up in there, so I haven’t needed to stick my hand or a tool in it to fully clear it out. Absolutely an improvement. LOVE that the power button is on the handle. It’s very smooth with adjusting the settings even while running. The bare floor setting actually works and doesn’t just send things flying in every direction. It is on the heavier side, but I disagree with the other review that says this is too much for an average person to have. This vacuum works like a standard home vacuum should. It has a few flaws that can be overlooked, but I would much rather pay an extra $100 for this than buy a lighter, less effective vacuum. Unfortunate it’s this pricey, but as someone that finds this incredibly expensive, I’m seeing that you get what you pay for with this one. It was hard to push confirm on this order, but I’d say overall it’s worth it given the current vacuum market.

Item works for my needs
The first one purchased a week ago did not work after assembly. Returned and repurchased. Nice and sleek looking rose gold accents. Detaches easily with a one touch motion. Hose snaps and lock into place, a plus compared to other units. Unit pulls forward with a slight ease, eliminating the need to forcefully push. The pull back takes a bit more effort, slightly more effort than with other units I previously owned. The weight of the unit may be the result of the tension in the pull back. The weight appears to be on the medium side, when in use with the pull back motion, and lifting and/or carrying the unit. The hose attachment and powerful suction did a good job cleaning baseboards. The removal of the dust cup makes it very easy to vacuum underneath sofas and other surfaces, unlike any other vacuum cleaner I've owned. Rinse to clean of the reusable filters is a money saver. Removable soft roller is a plus for easy cleaning and accessibility for detangling of hairs and other objects. Typical long cord as seen with most vacuum cleaners. Attachments need a bit of force to get on and off of the detachable wand, putting a slight strain on my arthritic joints. Perhaps a locking snap and push button release mechanisms could enhance this minor issue. Hopely, one day Shark could come out with a longer upright handle to a vacuum cleaner for tall people and those of us with arthritic joints and the bending motions used in vacuuming. Otherwise, this item works for my needs.

Good (but heavy) Vacuum
I can't tell you how many vacuums I've tried over the years. This is the best so far. The main thing I bought it for is the powered lift away. Very few Sharks have that anymore and it really comes in handy. It picks up the dog hair in the carpet as easily as picking up crumbs in the kitchen. The dirt cup is reasonably large and comes off easily for emptying. The filters are easy to clean. I like the extended reach you get by removing the wand from the body. The attachments are okay. This is the first Shark I've had that has a decent dust brush. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is the weight. Pretty heavy for an old lady to be wrestling around, but still lighter than some.

Shark vertex vacuum is a beast of a machine!
I researched this vacuum heavily before buying it and honestly I was not sure it was going to be as good as everyone said. I was wrong. The vacuum is stellar. I can tell that it's cleaning the carpet in a way that it was not cleaned by my old Shark vacuum because of what I see in the dust cup as they call it.. it's hardly a cup it's huge. The one thing they don't tell you in all the reviews and videos that I watched is that the motorized brush rollers are really powerful. I'm 72 but fairly strong very physically active/fit and this thing just about ran away with me. It was a workout to use it. Not in a bad way but still a workout. The forward is easy..but on the backstroke you've got to really pull against those brushes that want to go forward. Very impressive results so far. I might update this after three or four months of using it. I have a low pile ribbed carpet and I've been using it on the medium setting which seems to be appropriate for this carpet. I've not tried it on my hardwood floors yet. All I can say is the suction is very strong and puts my older.Shark Navigator and classic Miele cannister vacuum to shame. Completely worth the slightly higher price, very easy to put together right out of the box,. I couldn't be more satisfied.

Awesome vacuum
This is my second Shark Vertex, model az2002. The first one lasted 5 years. The plastic swivel component that attached to the floor vacuum literally broke in pieces, a small piece first, then a large piece, then all of it. It would still vacuum, but not stand up, nor could you maneuver it. Tried repairing, gave up. I replaced it with a Shark Navigator lift away. I had previously owned one of those. After using the Navigator for 7 or 8 months, I decided to go back to the Shark Vertex. My reasons were, the Vertex is self cleaning. I have a great Pyrenees and a shepherd Pyrenees mix, a 2 small dogs. I vacuum every other day. It takes forever when you have to stop and clean the brush roll out. I also have a shag area rug, and when using the Navigator, even with adjusting the suction, it was more of a work out and struggle. I started looking at the Vertex model and caught it on sale on Amazon, I won't say what I paid, but it's a lot cheaper than what the price is now. Having said all this, the Vertex is worth it. The suction surpasses the Navigator, and it even dusts your floors. Long dog hair, no problem, vacuuming the car, got it. I dont find it to be heavy, or cumbersome. The Navigator is a good vacuum, but for me the Vertex is worth it, even if I only get another 5 years out of it.

Vertex Vacuum Original Review and Updated Review
I wasn’t planning to get a new vacuum cleaner, but I changed my mind after I noticed a significant defect in our old one. I do the overall floor vacuuming and mopping in our house each week. For the last 6 or 7 years I’ve been using my Bissell, “lift-off” vacuum. I’ve been pleased with it and would’ve given it a “4 Star” rating. My only complaint was that I had to secure my brush attachment with a bungy cord, otherwise—if I hit a bump—the brush would just fall off. I also had to hold the electric cord in place with a clothespin. But other than that, I was quite satisfied with the performance. I recently bought an Oreck, “Orbiter,” floor polisher from Amazon, so I could better clean our hardwood floors. However, I also learned the unit could be used on carpets as well. For that you spread a cleaning powder over the carpet surface and then work it into the material with the Orbiter. After that you vacuum up the powder—which captures the dirt—and the job is done. That’s how it’s supposed to work. However, once I started vacuuming with my Bissell, I noticed there was a fine mist of powder leaking from a variety of areas on my unit. I could see white powder going into my dust cup, but it was also circulating into the air around me. I had watched videos online showing the Orbiter being used like this and then being vacuumed up with no problem. What was wrong here? I won’t go into my struggles looking for an answer, but eventually I decided to try using another vacuum we have. A few years ago, my wife bought a Shark, “Navigator,” vacuum cleaner, because she thought the Bissell was too heavy and noisy. I do most of the vacuuming, but she likes to touch up areas when necessary. My wife bought this after getting rave reviews from her mom and sister. I actually never used it because I had my routine down with the Bissell. Anyway, I decided to get the Shark and try my luck. I was pleasantly surprised when the Shark sucked up the powder and kept all of it in the dust cup. Problem solved. I was very impressed with the Navigator and started using it to do the whole house. However, I made the mistake ($) of checking out the Shark website and saw what upgrades were available. I actually did a lot of research via YouTube on Shark Vacuums and decided I really wanted a Vertex. I monitored the Shark website for possible sales and finally saw a good value on the Vertex model. I checked Amazon and noted they had the same “limited time deal” on the Vertex, so I ordered one immediately. By the way—when I checked the next day—the sale was already over. I know this is a long story, but I wanted to emphasize the importance of getting a superior filtering system. One of the videos I saw on YouTube was titled, “Don’t Buy a Cheap Vacuum.” One of the major points made was that everybody should spend enough money to get a “sealed” filtration system. Now I realized my Bissell must’ve been releasing invisible dust all these years. Yuck. Now I didn’t like my old vacuum very much at all. Anyway, I received my Vertex and used it yesterday and today (5/7/21). You know…I’m embarrassed to admit how much I like this machine and how excited I was to be getting it. The first day I worked on three bedrooms with carpets, two bathrooms with tile, and a hard floor hallway. For the record, I vacuum at least once a week and I’ve been using the Navigator for the past two weeks. However, after a normal run-through with the Vertex, the dust cup was full of crud—most of which—must have come from the carpets. I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve never seen that much dirt come out of one vacuuming session and I had only done about one half of the house. It must’ve been pulled out of the carpets, because I know the floors can’t get that dirty. I know this review is too long, so I’ll just say that I really appreciate everything about this vacuum. The suction power is great. It handles easily and although I always wear ear plugs—my wife says it’s not too loud. There are plenty of informative videos about Shark vacuums on YouTube. If you’re considering getting a Vertex, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Update: Oct. 13, 2024 I ordered a Shark, Vertex, upright vacuum cleaner, model # AZ2002 on May 2, 2021. I had read and watched several reviews on this item and they were all positive. However, about 7 or 8 months ago the “Power Head” unit—which is the part that houses the motor and rolls along the floor--would no longer stay secured in the upright position when I lifted the vacuum off the ground. I could still stand the vacuum upright, but as soon as I moved or lifted it, the power head would flop down into operating mode. The vacuum still worked normally, but it was inconvenient to use it this way. I looked on YouTube to see if I could find out what it would take to repair this problem and I learned repair technicians are very critical of Shark vacuums in general. For example, one of the first videos I watched is titled, “Why Can’t You Repair Your Shark Vacuum?” Another critical video is titled, “Everything Wrong with Shark Vacuums.” I won’t go into all the problems listed, but overall, the technicians complained that they couldn’t just order new parts to fix things, because Shark requires large portions of the machines to be ordered as complete units that can’t be pieced together with separate parts. I called “Hokemas”—the Vacuum and Sewing center I use in Redding, CA to inquire about getting this problem fixed. The employee answering told me that if the repair just required adjustments to the vacuum, they might be able to resolve the issue. However, if it required new parts, they wouldn’t be able to help. I asked why that was and he told me that their shop couldn’t get parts from Shark. This didn’t make sense to me, but I didn’t ask for an explanation at that time. Instead, I asked if they could check my vacuum for free—which is their policy—and let me know what I would need to do next. So, I dropped the vacuum off. There was a man and a young woman behind the counter. I explained the situation to the man and he took the vacuum and walked away. I heard him talking to the woman—who was walking with him—and I heard him say, “These Shark vacuums are good for about 2 or 3 years and then they implode.” That didn’t sound very encouraging. However, I noticed the shop had a full line of Shark vacuums in their display area. The employee phoned me later and said they couldn’t fix the problem and I would need to order a new power head from Shark myself, because they couldn’t get parts themselves. I wish I would’ve asked for more details about why this was true. When I got home and inspected the vacuum, I noticed a new problem. There’s a spongy front roller on the Vertex model which can be removed for washing by pressing a blue, thumb-size, round button on the left, bottom side of the vacuum. The button has a thin “lip” on the side which is what you push to disengage the roller. But when I tried to push the button to the side, it wouldn’t move. When I checked, I saw that the repair person had installed the button with the lip facing the wrong way and it wouldn’t move at all. I phoned Hokemas and explained the problem. I was told to bring the vacuum back and they would fix it. I drove back to the shop and spoke with the man who had disparaged Shark vacuums previously. I showed him the button and explained how it was reversed in position and that it wouldn’t release the front roller anymore. He noted this issue and took the vacuum. I later received a call letting me know the vacuum was repaired. However, when I went back to Hokemas, I saw the button was still misplaced and the roller was still stuck. The man said he could take it back for repairs again. I didn’t know if these people were incompetent or if they were just screwing with me. But I was so tired of dealing with Hokemas that I decided to just take the vacuum home and order a new power head myself from Shark—which I did. It cost approximately $90. The vacuum works fine again—for now. But there are now many things I don’t like about this model. Even before I found out why repairmen don’t like Shark, I didn’t like the idea that I couldn’t take this power head apart and replace the secondary roller myself. I also couldn’t dissemble it and clean the upper portion of the power head. Early on I noticed that dirt continues to collect inside the power head. You need to have a special tool to remove any screws and it’s not advised anyway, because there are a lot of electric wires spread around inside there. That issue was enough for me to decide not to buy this model again. But now I wouldn’t buy another Shark product at all. I still appreciate the power and performance of the Vertex and I'll keep using this one until it finally "implodes" for good.

Overall great purchase with a few issues I have with design and no tangle claim
Overall good at sucking up dust hair with a few issues that I have with the design. The suction works great, I have two golden retrievers and this is pretty good. The stair cleaning mini vacuum head attachment actually works! First time ever for any vacuum I've had. Overall I would buy this again. When you go to release the dirt from the dust cup at the top where all of the dog hair collects It gets all over the front of the dust cup which is gross to have to wipe off. It is heavy but being able to turn it into a slim vac and carry the canister is really helpful for getting under couches and more maneuverability. As far as no tangle brush goes, the main brush with the silicone blades is no tangle which is great. However, there is a front softer brush which does collect and wrap around dog hair. At least, unlike other vacuums I've had in the past, there is an easy to release lever so you can take off that first soft brush and more easily cut off the hair. But it's not totally no tangle.

100% recomendada.

Top vacuum without the Marketing Hype
I have owned this vacuum now for over three years. I live with two Labs that shed contently and need to vacuum daily. I have owned at least seven different vacs over the past 40 years always living with multiple dogs. This vac has outperformed all the vacuums that I have used. It is so well engineered and thoughtfully put together. The suction is incredible the rollers never get bunged up or clogged with hair. The ease of removing the main body from the business end of the vac allows for easy access to under furniture or use on stairs, not to mention the extra reach from the power plug that is obtained at least 5more feet. Clean out is a breeze with the trap door on the bin and the additional top door opening. It is such a good vacuum that I purchased one as a bonus for my G.M. when she mentioned she was looking for a vacuum. Although the cost is more than a lot of vacs but not as munch as the cordless hyped alternatives under the "D****" brand. Buy this vac you will not regret it.

Amazing suction!
I just reviewed this yesterday, I immediately vacuumed my carpet that I had LITERALLY just vacuumed like 2 hrs prior and the dust that this thing sucked up was amazing and disgusting all at the same time! Works great on both our hardwood & carpet, I love how I can just manoeuvre from one to the other without having to change the head. The extension wand and removable container make it so easy for me to vacuum everything!

AMAZING HOW MUCH STUFF THIS PICKS UP
My house has a built-in system. I thought it was good until I powered up the Shark. On a recently vacuumed carpet, this unit filled up quickly with hidden dirt. I have a Lab, and this unit can pull dog hair that the other vacuum missed. It is easy to empty and easy to clean the collection canister with warm soapy water. The power bar and high suction can make small area rug corners a bit of a challenge, but that is the case with most vacuums.
