Q: Can I hear myself via the mic?

In phone calls using a mobile I can't hear myself through the earbuds. Using the KZs with my laptop there was some software option for talkback but I didn't try it. I think it depends what kind of device you use.

Q: I just bought a pair and they have a lot of white noise when any audio is playing through it. Is this normal?

This could be due to them being high sensitivity headphones (25 ohms), so they are able to pick up on a lot of extra detail in music, but being plugged into devices that have a higher ohm rating and aren't designed for high quality listening, such as phones and laptops (on average around 32 ohms), it is picking up on electrical interference, which is the white noise you're hearing. I recommend looking into getting an impedance adapter around the 60 ohms range and this should remove the white noise, hope this helps.
