TUG>KONG at least for retractable leashes
My 40lb, 1 year old pup is very excitable and has been through a few different retractable leashes. I thought by going with a heavy duty Kong product(rated for 110lbs) with a warranty I could avoid continuous replacements. The Kong held up for 5 months before the lead snapped from the internal housing. I filed a warranty inquiry with Kong directly with no response. If you buy this do not expect the 2 year manufacturer warranty to amount to anything. Before it broke I used it daily and here were the quirks I noticed: Lead constantly tangled when retracting, brake mechanism not as smart as others, and the retracting mechanism became much louder over time. I bought a replacement from TUG that has a better braking mechanism and is tangle free.

Great quality
We purchased a red one for our little doxie and a blue one for out 55 lb pointer/lab. They are working wonderfully so far. I don't use it for walks with the big dog, only to let her wander in my yard. No fence there. She's very strong and pulls to much. The leash may be able to take it. I'm not willing to risk it. I walk the little dog twice a day using the red king, it's awesome. She likes the freedom it gives to wander around and sniff. I like the ease it provides to rein her in.

Quality Lightweight Leash
When I first got my dog my mom had purchased an older version of this Kong leash and I really liked it but when I went to get a second retractable leash I found some cheaper ones with good reviews and thought I'd give them a try. But after trying a few different other options I decided this leash was worth the extra cost. My dog is right around 55-60 lbs which means for most other leashes I have to get the Large size for his weight and the Large size retractable leashes I got were so heavy and clunky. With the Kong retractable leash I only need the Medium size to handle his weight and it's so much lighter, more compact, and better quality. It also works smoothly and is easier to use.

Appears Good
This seems like a great leash. I cannot really attest to much about it, because I just bought this leash as a result of my prior KONG leash fraying some (it's several years old) and come to find out my prior leash is 24 feet but this one is only 16 feet. So, I've went back to using my old leash just for my pup to have some extra freedom. But the bit that I did use this, it was very nice and lightweight. It's definitely nice to have a backup leash.

From cord to ribbon/tape
Med retractable leash used for Chi mix <10 poundsI also have a retractable cord leash -- my new go-to is the ribbon/tape retractable leash. It seems to glide better retracting and really no chance of rope burn if you tend to grab at the retractable portion instead of using the button (yes, I see ppl do it all the time). The Kong leash is sturdy, not too heavy, but the locking mechanism has a little learning curve over the other type retractable leashes. I would def buy again.

Good leash, bad warranty
This is the second Kong leash we got from Amazon. We got this one for our 10-pound Pekinese/Yorkie mix. One day we went to retract it and, as you can see from the photo, it didn’t retract. I contacted the number on the leash, found their website, made a warranty claim on March 10 with a promised response “In a couple of days,” and haven’t heard a word since. I’ll try one more time before I come back here and tell you guys what happened, but as of right now, the two-year warranty isn’t worth much and I’d look for an alternative.

Snapped!
I bought this leash for my active Australian shepherd puppy counting on Kong’s durability. I used it 2 or 3 times but she chewed on it too much so I decided to save it for the time when she’ll be more behaved on the walks. I put it away for 3 months and decided to use it again today. It snapped when my dog pulled a little harder. So I ended up using it 3 or 4 times. Puppy is 40lbs so we were well under the weight limit of 50kg. Disappointing.

Awesome leash, but little dog destroyed it.
At first, this leash was awesome (it allowed for a lot of free movement for my small dog), but after a week and a half of use, the leash (tape) ripped halfway through near where it latches onto my dog's harness. Good thing I inspected it before using it that day, or the leash could have snapped while we were walking near moving vehicles.I really enjoyed this leash at first -- as did my dog -- but now I'll have to find a leash that won't snap after only a few weeks of use.

Warranty is worthless if you can't return it to Amazon.
This was a Christmas present for my wife, she's used it everyday but has been complaining that the lock/brake no longer works. I didn't believe her as Kong products are usually good quality. However, it really doesn't work at all well, she needs two hands to make the lock work, makes walking the dog quite hard work. Even worse, how do I return it under warranty?

Snapped!
We have a 30kg bulldog & bought the lead to take up to 70kg. Product worked well for a month then the lead snapped clean away from the handle. Not good!

Brilliant for big dogs
I have this lead for both my 25kg and 37kg boxers, both of them love to chew the lead and although both have fraid after ALOT of chewing they are still just as strong and can cope easily with both of my dogs strengths. Never had an issue with the lock either
