TaylorMadeProducts, Flag Pole Set, Polished Stainless Steel

This is a really high quality flag staff and base. The staff itself feels heavy enough that you could probably use it as a weapon!Build-quality wise, it's a 5-star product. I'm docking 1 star for two things that could be done better.1) The 904/30" staff model due to its size is meant to be through-bolted for strength and includes a backing plate and machine screws, nuts, and lock washers. The nuts are very thin and the washers separate pieces, making for awkward assembly reaching up towards the backing plate. I would have preferred thicker nuts with captured lock washers.2) The clips for attaching the flag to the staff require a 1/8" hex key to adjust to the height of your flag, but the staff ships with both clips at the top of the staff. So when you install it and don't have a 1/8" hex key, you can't hang your flag. The clip height adjustment should be Phillips head, just like the flag clip attachment OR a 1/8" hex key should be in the package OR the bottom clip should be loose enough to slide down the pole so the flag can be hung without searching for 1/8" hex key (I have wrenches, pliers and screwdrivers on the boat, but not hex keys). Another clever idea would be the staff set screw in the base having its tip as a 1/8" hex key, so you had a built-in tool for adjusting the flag height.

Very happy with the quality of the Pole and Mount and it's what I expected. Was very disappointed with screws that came with the 18" model. Instructions said to drill a 1/8" hole for the screws. When I tried to screw in the first screw it snapped and chipped the gelcoat. I had to drill out the screw and spend another $8 on stainless bolts washers and nuts. Bolts washers and nuts and a backing plate comes with the longer models but only screw come with 18" version. Taylor Made should give you the option of bolting with a backing plate on this model too. Another small annoyance is that you have to use tools to remove the flag from the pole.

I almost sent this item back. I ordered the 30 inch pole kit , as Taylor's video said I did not need the retaining ring for mounting the 30 inch pole. However when I received this item it contained the ring. I called Taylor to clear up this confusion. They said that the 30 , 36 and 48 inch poles all require the use of this retaining ring. Therefore I had to return the 30 in. and reorder the 24 inch pole. As of today 8/4/2017 Taylor has not corrected nor removed that erroneous film. Be aware!!

Bought this flag pole/holder for our pontoon boat, looked awesome mounted on the back deck. Had the pole holder mounted by our boat dealer, I loaded the flag pole & flag to the mount. Tightened down the screw as tight as I could to hold the pole in place. After our second voyage, the screw holding the pole wasn't tight enough, turned to realize the pole & flag were probably in the bottom of the lake. Afterwards, I went back & tightened down the screw as far as I could without the pole. What I realized was the screw would only go in so far, not enough to hold the pole in place at 15-20 mph. Ugh!

Really, this is a five star product, however when we got to the dock to install it, we discovered it requires a SQUARE BIT to adjust the flag holders. Seriously, it would cost Taylor less than a nickel to include a "L" shaped "allen" type tool and then it would be a super quality piece.

Regret buying - too expensive for what it is and then the flag pole came out of the mount on the 2nd time out after installation, even though I had it securely in there and both this overly expensive pole and my new flag went in the lake never to be found again. Would NOT recommend.

Taylor made products are of a consistently made of excellent materials and fitting. With the help of my nephew and niece this is the second one on this boat. I honestly don't know how they knocked it off, these things are tough but this one is through bolted. Good luck knocking this one off!!

Great quality and easy installation. A great addition to my boat. I've run a couple days with it so far and have had no issues. Others have commented that the set screws which anchor the brackets can dent the pole; I also found that to be the case (specifically where the lower bracket was anchored at the factory for shipment) but you really have to be looking for it to notice it.

Looks really well made. Super sturdy. LOVE.
