SanDisk Extreme PRO CFexpress Card Reader USB-C USB 3.1 Gen2 compatible with CFexpress Type B format

Love this card reader! After many issues with CFexpess cards constantly crashing my mac, a colleague recommended I try the SanDisk and I have never had an issue with any of my cards since! It might not be the fastest available but the amount of time it saves me by not having any more issues makes it worth every penny!

I have often bought cheaper no name card readers and to be honest, they do the job. However, when I got my large file size DSLR I went for a proper Sandisk card reader and I really noticed the difference with the Cf cards. Of course, then when I changed my camera to a mirrorless system they used a different card (again Nikon, come on, enough of this) and I had to buy this CFexpress reader. I'm suitable impressed with the speed of transfer again, and the build quality is nice although it is bit heavier and bulkier than many which might be important to those who regularly carry theirs about. Personally, I think it's worth that.

RAW files transfer very quickly Via USB C connections. The cable is a good length allowing convenient placement of the reader on my desk. Of course optimal performance when combined with a good CF Card, see my card review.

Quality item. Fast data transfer. Has status light to indicate file transfer active. Not cheap and only supplied with a USB type-C cable - a USB type-A one would be good as we haven't all moved to type-C yet, but you can buy one of these separately.

I bought a cheap "no-name" brand and could not get it working on 5 computers. Using the SanDisk, plugged it into a windows machine and worked first time! This is what it's all about - true plug n play.

Well worth the money. Cut time required for video downloads from camera to computer to seconds rather than minutes as before. Robust too.

I had three of these units, and one of their major problems is that the retractable mechanism is too weak and can break very easily, which happened to me twice. In all other aspects, it works pretty well. I replaced one unit under warranty (the retractable mechanism broke after just a few weeks). The replacement unit worked for a year before it broke again. I decided to buy a new one because I like the design and have grown used to it. So, I have mixed feelings — it works well overall, but the retractable mechanism definitely needs improvement.

Ich nutze den SanDisk CFexpress Kartenleser jetzt regelmäßig nach meinen Shootings und bin wirklich zufrieden. Im Vergleich zum direkten Anschluss der Kamera sind die Übertragungen viel schneller. Große 4K- oder RAW-Dateien landen in wenigen Sekunden auf meinem Laptop. Der Kartenleser ist kompakt, wirkt hochwertig verarbeitet und passt perfekt in meine Fototasche. Besonders praktisch finde ich den USB-C Anschluss, der sich problemlos mit meinem MacBook verbinden lässt. Auch die Karte sitzt sicher im Slot und lässt sich trotzdem leicht wieder entnehmen. Fazit: Für mich ein unverzichtbares Zubehör. Schnell, handlich und zuverlässig, genau das, was man im Fotoalltag braucht.
