What is the sensor size of this board?
Will this work to capture star light at night? I am trying to build an All Sky camera to view the stars.
a direct replacement to the Pi v2 camera? (dimensions are different, but the Jetson Nano requires the v2 sensor, yet I want telephoto)
Is the included lens wider angle than the camera with no lens? Does anyone know the field of view?

Outstanding for its purpose.

This certainly wasn’t made to produce broadcast videos or take studio quality photos, however it was made to replace several “strip” cams for Raspberry Pi and other SBC products because of their low quality images and it does that like a trooper. I have only modestly experimented with it up until now trying it first in my Raspberry Pi 400 keyboard because it was so easy to test. I then connected it to my CrowPi2 because that’s really what it’s made for and ran it through some drills. I’m very interested in additive manufacturing and design and print many dodads to combine with RPi, Arduino and other controllers including legos. So I replaced existing cameras with this one and ran it through the paces. It performed flawlessly and with superior images. My real purpose for buying one more camera was to add it to my new Creality Ender-3 S1 Pro that arrived last week (don’t know why, but I was one of the first in the USA to receive one) and I thought I’d make several videos demonstrating the new capabilities. It’s work terrific and I will be buy two or three more. I highly recommend it.

Handy camera to monitor a 3d printer

I attached a rasberry pi with OctoPrint to control my 3d printer (Ender 3 pro). This camera is compatible with both the pi and Octoprint and allows me to monitor my print jobs from afar. Video quality is good, if not spectacular, and more than I need for this task. Good camera and perfect for my use case!

My first choice for my dog camera project.

I have sampled a number of Pi cams for a project to keep an eye on my dog when I'm not home. This module works as expected with raspistill and raspivid. I've tested it with a Pi 3B+ and Pi Zero W. Worked great. I especially like being able to swap out the lens. These 12mm lenses are better for my application than the larger CS lenses. As other reviewers have noted, be gentle changing the lens. If you do mess up the threads, you can replace the mount with one that comes with many of the 12mm lenses. I see this as a pick a lens once and leave it setup rather than changing the lens over and over.I have not found a case that works with these. I'm using scotch tape across the top and bottom to tape it to the Pi case, and that would be fine for my own hacked up camera system. But I'm getting started with 3D printing to make cases for the Pi/cam units.

Works Great and adds Flexibility in Lenses

This camera is a great option for an Rpi, I really like the interchangeable lenses since I'm using this in more of a close up situation and it allows me to control what gets into the frame of the video. I picked up 3 additional lenses for about $12 making the complete system very affordable. One thing to keep in mind, if you buy this board you won't be able to use most of the standard Rpi camera cases. This is slightly different size to allow them to adapt for the larger lenses.

Good little camera for sub 20$

I have this on an old rpi 3 b+ taking motion capture and stills (pictures) every minute, outside my house and I like it a lot with the motioneyeOS installed, recorded on a Network share that another ras pi running my NAS. It makes for some pretty good time-lapse! Honestly pretty good quality for the price.

Good little Raspberry Pi Camera for the money

Purchased this to use as a time lapse / monitor camera for my octoprint server. It connected and was recognized with a simple restart of the RPI3B. Overall:The Good:- Picture is of decent clarity and resolution, more than adequate to the task of monitoring my 3D printer.- Module is very light and easily moved around.- Worked 'out of the box' with a default install of octoprintThe bad:- focus is kind of 'soft' but the image is clear.- the default lens is oddly aspherical.- the supplied ribbon cable is quite short (6" maybe?)Overall a good camera, especially for the price.

Getting better results from an old 720p webcam

EDIT: Arducam has reached out to me and is doing their best to make things right. And that counts for a lot in my book. While the camera isn't workable for my particular use case, it does appear to be functional and produces decent enough images otherwise. I am editing this review to reflect that.I purchased the camera specifically to use with Octolapes, and the truth is the sensor just can't keep up under those conditions. For other uses, I am sure the camera is a fine addition to a maker's tool kit. I wish it could have worked out better for me. When I was able to capture images with it, the quality was spectacular considering the price of the camera.

The Best Camera for your Raspberry Pi

By replacing the fixed lens of the original Raspberry Pi camera with the common M12 lens mount system this upgraded camera gives you a wide array of inexpensive glass lens options for shooting with your Pi. The lens focuses by threading into the board mount and this allows for extremely close up macro photography. This camera worked right out of the box with both a Pi model B and a Pi 2 model B however it will not fit into cases designed for the original Raspberry Pi camera as the board is larger.
