Outstanding photographs that I've never seen before of early and late Panzer IV's, some still in action, some knocked out - about a 50/50 mixture. The author's knowledge on the production variations of these tanks is staggeringly impressive, but that becomes actually a distraction and became somewhat annoying actually. Many of the photos show the Mark IV's in very unusual situations, but the lengthy captions will say nothing about what's going on in the photo, instead, page after page deals with minute details about the tank itself, who built it, and when, calling your attention to the number of rivets on side skirts or how the smoke canisters are installed or things such as that, rather than mentioning why some of the photos show intact Panzer IV's with Russian crews in them, apparently still operable, and still with all German markings intact. Others photos show IV's in really odd situations, and again, nothing is said about that, only about the production details of that particular tank. It makes reading the captions quite monontonous, but the photos themselves are well worth the price of the book, and this is an outstanding set.

Wow! Best of all worlds - reasonable price, dozens of stunning PZ IV photos, and detailed descriptions (in English and Hungarian) of the scenes and the details to help you identify the type of PZ IV. A must-have reference for armour modellers and PZ IV enthusiasts.

I found the book to be quite interesting particularly with the number of panzer IV variants complete with actual battlefield photos in action and post battlefield damage. The author has done a good job showing the progression of the ever increasing requirements of both protection with armor and need to penetrate the enemies plate armor with the increasing sizes of calibres of the main guns especially at arms length without sacrificing mobility and speed. Overall it is quite good read and made a great Christmas gift.
