The One Year Book of Discovering Jesus in the Old Testament

This book is a surprising trip through the Old Testament that makes the Scriptures come alive as Jesus is found on every page. I find myself re-reading and/or reading ahead as each day's account unfolds and there Jesus is! No longer is He hidden in ancient shadows, but by Guthrie's thorough study and applications the reader begins to appreciate the whole story about Jesus-beginning at Genesis!

I'm familiar with the author and was thrilled to find this devotional. It has enough "meat" to cause you to think and ponder about her insights without being time consuming.

I read this devotional daily in 2019, and found a new favorite! The daily excerpts are short but poignant, always pointing to Jesus. The author brings out many ways that the Old Testament points to Jesus, and how Jesus fulfilled these OT prophecies regarding the Messiah, that I’d never noticed in my own. As I read, I added notes to my own bible so when I read the Old Testament, I now have more cross-references to Jesus in the New Testament. (I found many, many more than my own Bible had cross-referenced.) It was a book that helped me to worship God who has shaped history around His magnificent plan of redemption, starring Jesus Christ as the Hero, all for His glory. I highly recommend this book and plan to read it again myself in future.

Love this book. Very informative and I’m learning so much more about the Old Testament.I would like to ask if there is an audio format for IPad, so I can listen to this book? My stroke has affected my comprehension so I find it hard to read.

I like this book so much that I plan to re-read it next year... and probably give as gifts.

Those with open minds and hearts will be challenged to delve into the Old Testament. Good read.

I ordered this after reading the reviews and I must admit, I am not disappointed. While I have read the Old Testament, I never really connected the dots so to speak. I am enjoying reading this book so much that I have recommended this to a few of my friends. After I have finished reading. I would write a little exhortation on what I got from that reading. I am so in awe of how our Heavenly Father knew before the foundations of the earth that His son would be our redeemer.

So easy to read, beautifully printed, packed full of information, inspiring. I'll read this book several times and use it to cross refer to other related subjects.

Hoping to improve my knowledge of the OT and this book appears to cover the whole OT and how it points to Jesus, looking forward to working my way through it.

I think this is best book for those who don't have any idea of how people were saved in the old testament, and also a sound approach to interpret scripture with gospel in mind.
