This battery made my Kindle new again
YouTube showed me how to pry off the back. Only 2 screws held in the old battery. I installed the replacement and charged it fully. My Kindle is like new again.

Brought my Kindle 3rd Gen. Keyboard back to life!
This was the first time that I needed to replace the battery on my Kindle. After checking a YouTube film on how to do this and it looked rather easy, I ordered the battery.NOTE: It's been a while since I had used my Kindle 3, since a year after I purchased it, I had gotten a Fire tablet, so it was kept inside my desk drawer. But recently I needed to use it (for an outdoors project I was working on). Since normal LCD screen tablets (and smartphones) can't really function well out in the sun -- they are not visually clear when you want to see their screens. The first battery that they shipped was not working, it would not charge nor would it boot up my Kindle. So, I had the battery replaced and the 2nd one they sent worked great. Now my Kindle charges and keeps the charge and I no longer need to reboot it with the USB cable connected to a power source.Early symptoms when the battery is no longer good: (1) your Kindle will not power off (standby mode) when you switch the power button on it. (2) your Kindle will almost always reboot when you connect it to a USB power source. (3) your Kindle will not keep the current date. -- These are the early symptoms when the battery needs replacement. I thought I'd keep these notes here as a reminder to me when I need to replace it again. -- I hope this helps others...

Like so many others I faced the dilemma of looking at my beloved Kindle 3 Keyboard model and seeing nothing but the corpse of a screen assuring me that it was in fact dead. No! I didn’t want to believe it. For three years I searched for a replacement, a process that’s as meaningless as trying to replace a loved pet. Life was so idyllic back in those days when turning the page meant nothing more than pressing my right thumb down, or my left one if I wanted to go back. Scrolling was an intuitive press of a button - up for up, down for down, etc. And typing words was, well you get it, that’s why it was called the keyboard model.A couple of years ago during prime day I bought the then current replacement model. I didn’t have it more than a few days before I sent it back, it wasn’t any better, it was worse in every way. Then a few days ago I succumbed to another deal, this time a treasure truck with a price I couldn’t say no to. I tried to like it, I really did, but alas it wasn’t to be. I tried to adjust the text and screen brightness to my exact level of comfort, which coincidentally was almost the same as the one I had bought back in 2010, and that’s the point, they were exactly the same. Twelve years of so-called breathtaking technological advances later and the 2022 model looked identical. Why would I want to keep it when I had just discovered that for about eighteen bucks I could restore my old reader exactly the same as it was the day I bought it, in fact even better with a higher capacity battery.A SECRETHere’s a secret - I made this discovery by watching an online video (which by the way was very helpful) that was selling a replacement battery kit with some so-called special tools for almost the same price as the latest model was going for on sale. Then I found a link to Amazon. No they wouldn’t allow selling a battery that would make people change their minds about buying a new replacement device, would they? Apparently they have no problem with it because the next day my order arrived. No special tools were required - I used my fingernail and a butter knife - and less than ten minutes later it was 2010 all over again, well as far as my eReader was concerned.YES OR NOWell obviously yes, who wouldn’t want to restore the best model ever made? My only advice is when I searched there were dozens of companies using all kinds of code language and non-specific model numbers. Follow the votes and look for the one everyone else is buying and leaving positive reviews for. All of the various batteries may be identical, and I have no doubt they are, but the chances of finding an honest seller with good customer service increase as you find more people buying from them. Hooray, my Keyboard little friend is back!

Shockingly Easy Complete Restoration
This was a shockingly easy installation to bring my aged Kindle 3 reader back to life with all the battery life (in fact, I think a bit more) it came with originally. I would be surprised if it took ten minutes. It’s nothing like replacing a smart phone battery.

Great Kindle Battery Replacement
I purchased this battery to replace the one in my 10 year old Kindle with keyboard. It took about 5 minutes to replace and charged up quickly. My “Empty Battery” issue is gone and my old Kindle is working like new again.

Back to life!
I have always loved my original Kindle, so when it stopped working I was... let's say, not a happy camper, I have had it a long time. After a year or so I decided to look into replacing the battery. Ordered this, plugged it in, and my Kindle found a second life!! Awesome and easy to install!

Doesn’t hold a charge well.
Instructions can be found online with a quick search for Kindle 3rd generation battery replacement. The installation is pretty straight forward with the greatest difficulty in prying off the back cover. Mine required a little more effort than the videos showed but it was manageable. The battery itself, while an improvement over the dead one it replaced, is sadly lacking in its ability to hold a charge. I liked the idea of giving new life to my kindle with a battery swap, but this one turned out to be a bit of a disappointment.

successfully fixed kindle paperwhite
old battery was dead, upon inspection it was bulging and had cracked... new one has better shell than the oem one... very easy to deal with and install, really have to go out of your way to muck this up... i know cus im retarded and managed to still do this correctly. brought the paperwhite back to life... whatever you do... don't torrent a collection of ebooks from a retailer from 2012 containing 230k books to put on it cus they discontinued the wifi/monitoring/bs to them and they would have no way to be a jerk about it.
