This is Book 2 of The Darker Trilogy
This is the continuing story of Bradyn & Nyx. Picking up from the cliffhanger of Book 1, Nyx knocks on Bradyn's door and a girl comes to the door naked. Ok then. Nyx leaves. There are so many things that are mixed up and all come together with her life, Bradyn's life, her early life and his parent's lives. Only a great author can do that, bring everything together. Nyx being a PI, and Bradyn doing research for his documentary, it all intertwines. It's amazing. Included with that, there is their story with each other. This is an amazing book with another cliffhanger, and a whopper of one at that. Can't wait for the last book of this series.

Nyx and Bradyn, wow!
Nyx returns from New York only to find a naked woman in Bradyn's cabin. Not good! She throws herself back into her investigation as does Bradyn into make his documentary. More incriminating information is discovered. Nyx's past confronts Nyx rather brutally. I don't want to give too much away so suffice it to say that the story is shocking, the sex is hot, and the ending is surprising. Great book and I can't wait for more!

Secrets
Oh my Brayden and Nyx become so much more intertwined in this installment. Trust is important to Nyx and it gets blown up! Secrets get revealed and the web of lies draws Brayden’s family into her case. I’m loving this series, it’s intense. More in depth of Nyx’s past is revealed and it broke my heart. But she’s strong! Looking forward to reading the next book, I’m sure it’s going to be explosive!

Two broken hearts come together
I like that Nyx let her guard down to let someone take care of her for a change. I also like that Bradyn doesn’t push her. Looking forward to the next book.

Darker #2
This will be in no particular order. The ending was not expected and can't wait until the next book. Now, Nyx and Bradyn are made for each other. He's so sweet and caring, it's exactly what Nyx needs. She opens up a whole lot more in this book and a little more easy going. They both find out that their work goes hand in hand together...even if it was by fate instead of coincidence. You learn just how far Bradyn's parents will go to keep things quiet. You also get more detail about Nyx and her stepdad Art.What I really want to talk about is ALL the facts about racism in this country that's pointed out in the story. How deep it is and all the bits and pieces of HISTORY Ms. Parker threw in. It's brilliant on the way it's included in Bradyn's story of how and what he deals with. I'm black and my husband is white we live in South Carolina. I'm fairer skin which makes some people believe I'm bi-racial. It's a part where it tells just how little black people were and STILL thought of to some level. It's hard for Nyx to find paperwork or paper trail on the older generation because there weren't any. Example, my grandma has 2 birthdays (on paper) because no one is sure. I believe she's older than 89 (she's still living and just as wise as an old owl). So I really appreciate the series!I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

As always Five star excellence from this talented author 😍
Af the end of the last book Nyx jumped to the wrong conclusion when she thought Bradyn had literally jumped into bed with another woman after their disagreement , but thankfully the misunderstanding was cleared up quite quickly . Soon the pair continued their very hot liaisons ❤️❤️, but as the story progresses Nyx discovers that Bradyn’s family are connected to her investigations ,but not only that there’s also a connection to her troubled past. In Nyx’s flashbacks there’s a picture developing of all the horrific abuse she endured . We also get a good in sight into Bradyns family dynamic and quickly learn that they’re not very nice people and we find out why they disinherited Bradyn . As things get more tangled and complicated Nyx decides to confront some one from her past in her home town not letting her do it alone Bradyn decides to go with her . Instead of getting clarity it only brings more uncertainty and more questions , after another a quick stop in NYC to catch up with her friends they return back to the farm in Savannah to find that their investigations are causing very large waves indeed . Normally by now I can work out the story line but with another massive cliffhanger I can honestly say I have no idea who’s pulling the strings in this story . Won’t have long to wait though 😉

Racism , sexism and abuse explained within a love story - and why not?
This second book in the series has been a welcome surprise indeed. The historical description of how institutional slavery in 18 th century USA shapes the institutional racism within the USA today was brilliant. The Black Lives Mater movement I believe has inspired some people to question and reject the normalisation of prejudice within our selves, our communities and society and artists of all persuasions seem to be consistent in pushing this process forward. And why not make this issue the focal point of a love trilogy.Really glad the author did.
