Zilker ZBJ06 6-String Banjo Pack with Gig Bag, Strap, and Pick

I love the sound of a banjo, and always wanted to learn. I play guitar, and so this "gitjo'" (guitar-banjo) is an interesting compromise. Setting it up was not too hard, but trying to get the pitches right was. I had to go online to find out how setting the bridge affects how the pitches agree with one another. The strap is worthless. Spend the money and buy a proper one. The gig bag is too small for the instrument (it is so tight that the tuning pegs sustain too much pressure). The instrument itself is good. It sounds great, once you get it set up, and it is easy to play. For the money, you are paying for the banjo, and it is a good instrument, and a good value. The strap and bag are irrelevant.

Great value for your money! I have a habit of getting obsessed with new instruments and when I saw there was a banjo that tunes like a guitar I thought to myself, "play a new instrument without the learning curve?" SOLD. First off, everything was packed very well and there was a foam brace for the neck. My first impression was WOW, what a beautiful instrument! I was a little skeptical that a banjo this cheap would be made out of cardboard but when I pulled it out of the bag I immediately knew that this was solidly built just by the weight of it. I am not very gear savvy but I can tell when something is cheaply made and let me tell you, this does not feel cheap AT ALL. A quick google search told me where to properly install the bridge and after I got her tuned up, (which took a little bit because the drum head needs to stretch out) my heart turned glad because I am now a banjo player. Would buy this again.

I'm giving it a 2 star review because it does sound pretty ok. But I'm so disappointed in this item. I've had it for about a year and a half and it's hard to play because of the action being like 1/2". Ouch. The strings are light so I just dealt with it. When I finally decided to commit and take it to a pro for new strings and setup, the luthier told me that the truss rod was already tightened (straight out of the factory!!) as far as it could possibly go, so the neck could not be straightened and it's basically a finger shredding bowed mess. Amazon would do nothing to remedy the situation because the time window had expired. The instrument was flawed before it ever left the factory.

Great looking instrument for the price, once the neck and bridge are set up it plays and sounds decent. For the money. I would have given it 5 stars but the neck on mine is improperly set-It is rotated along its axis so the fretboard does not align with the rest of the instrument. Makes the lower stings far from the board in the upper registers. Very sloppy assembly, I would shop around a bit.

I have had trouble getting it and keeping it in tune. Not sure if is the tuning keys or just because it has new strings. A good value for the cost though.

Maybe I did not have the expertise to set this up correctly, but the bridge and/or seemed not to make playing possible. After repositioning the bridge several ways, I gave up and sent it back. With this being said, I might be I just got the bad one of the bunch. It did seem stable, sturdy, and not a toy. Strap did not have hooks but that was not a deal-breaker. My game plan is to save up a couple more months and purchase something a little bit nicer.

I really love it! I didn't have too much trouble adjusting the bridge on it after reading online how to put the bridge in and the tuning took me a few times, but I finally got it too. The sound is awesome even without a pickup on it! I would recommend it to others. I am so happy with the guitar banjo and it is the best Christmas present I have received!! The only negative that I have is about the strap for it was a little too tight for me even after adjusting the length, so I would recommend a longer one, but other than that it is all good.

My husband loves this thing!! He was so surprised when I got it for him two years ago as his first guitar. He now has an acoustic-electric guitar but plays this one ALL THE TIME! I highly recommend for anyone who is looking for a cheap but nice banjitar!
