Very enjoyable classic
I very much enjoyed these 3 books and my only previous experience with the franchise was seeing one or two episodes of the anime dubbed. I was very worried starting the first chapter, I think because of the amount of comedy, but from there it started building the world and the comedy dropped to a much more appropriate level. With each volume being roughly 150 pages, there are no boring parts at all and I did nothing but enjoy the ride from there. I was happy to see afterwords by the author that give insight into the books' creation.A very minor issue is the placement of the color illustrations at the very front of the book. They should be inserted at the appropriate place within the story. If you look at them out of order it could potentially spoil something. This was no doubt done to save printing costs, and that's ok since other publishers might have grayscaled them or not have included them at all. The artwork style on the cover might incorrectly make one assume this series is more childish than it really is.I have to say that I don't like this 'release it digitally first' BS or the fact that the second print book doesn't come out for almost another year despite their digital counterparts already being out. I also disagree with this being a 'high-quality' hardcover; I don't buy many, but to me this one is just acceptable. The first copy I received had pages falling out, while others were upside down. On the replacement, the spine of the glued/sewn together pages is not flush with the cover's spine. Might just not have been placed 100% perfect, but combined with the first copy's issues, it makes me worry about it staying together. What I consider a high-quality hardcover is something like the JoJo manga release. Those things are perfect, but I still prefer paperback, especially for novels.

Light novel, not manga
In case you have confusion, it's a light novel, not manga

Good book, but chemical smell?
Great book, beautiful edition. For some reason my copy arrived smelling overwhelmingly of some kind of harsh cleaning chemical? Looking forward to reading once the smell fades as I cannot have this book open for more than a few minutes without getting a headache. 5/5 for the book, 1/5 for chemical smell

Nicest hardback/collectors edition light novel I’ve seen or owned
I bought this from Rightstuf, but I still wanted to leave a review on here. I own overlord, eminence in shadow and the SAO collectors edition, and out of all of those hardback/collectors edition LN’s, this omnibus collectors edition of Slayers is absolutely the nicest in my opinion. I thought retail was a little high at first, even though it’s 3 volumes.. well at least until I saw it in person. To any collectors out there, I can’t recommend this enough. The ebooks have been released and are ahead of the physical release as always, but out of all the J-novel club books to own in physical, this is the one. First of all it’s actually readable and has an ergonomic size, nothing like the SAO collectors edition or the Spice & Wolf collectors edition. The paper is high quality as always with J-novel club, but the covers are beautiful and so well done. Everything just pops. I’m very happy I decided to go physical with Slayers, and to anyone out there weighing the same decision, I can’t recommend this collectors edition enough. Hopefully in time J-novel club will decide to do even more of these collectors edition releases for other series, because I’d love to own more of these from some of their other series as well. Support this physical release! You won’t be disappointed. The series is a classic and still holds up well even today, the cast of characters is unique and enjoyable too. So far I’d say the novel is better than the anime, which tends to be par for the course, but I’ve always liked the anime so it was a pleasant surprise how good this series is, and from the 90’s no less. Don’t sleep on Slayers, or this collectors edition release. It’s honestly better than a lot of more recent popular light novels.Edit: I added a couple of photos for size comparison. I included a photo comparing the size with an average Yen-on press LN and an average J-novel club novel. I also added a photo comparing how thick the book is compared to an average Yen-on press LN & J-novel club LN; as well as a photo comparing the font size and page margins. It’s very readable and extremely practical.

Saved from Tokyopop Hell at last!
This beautiful hardcover edition is the first time the Slayers novels are back in print in the west after several decades of floating in copyright and interest void. This volume includes the first three novels of the series (The Slayers, The Sorcerer of Atlas, The Ghosts of Sairaag) and several color images, including a large splash image that is folded inside (the full version of the images that J-Novel Club is using for the covers).Whether or not this is a harbinger for finally getting the rest of the series in the west (Tokyopop didn't make it even halfway through the catalog), this is still a must have for Slayers fans.

Fantastico!
Fan del famoso “Un incantesimo dischiuso tra i petali del tempo per Rina” ovvero “The Slayers”? Leggete in inglese?
