Across the Continent: The Union Pacific Photographs of Andrew Joseph Russell

This has proved a great addition to my collection of books on pioneering American railways and stereoviews. I first became interested in Andrew J. Russell’s photographs several years ago and was delighted to find that Amazon were offering this book at a bargain price. The text is easy to read and generously illustrated. Over its 195 pages I’ve counted 45 of Russell’s large format views and a total of around 60 of his stereoviews. The stereoviews are reproduced a little smaller than original size but I found them easy to view with my Loreo Lite 3D viewer. I would say that the only thing the book lacks is some tips on viewing stereoviews and suggested sources for viewers to help those readers who do not already have a means of viewing the many 3D images.
