SOMETIMES BEING BRAVE ISN'T ABOUT BEING A SUPERHERO
What a fun story about two friends, and imagination, and making new friends. This will be the night that Julius and Macy meet the Night Goblin.Julius (a badger) and Macy (a mouse) are friends who play together--"a special place where they can be anything at all." Julius claims to be the defender of the forest--who loved to be brave. And Macy is brave, only in her own way. They like to play hero--but on this night, things will be different. After playing they are ready for a snack--OH NO, their cookies and nuts are missing. Julius has determined that the Nigh Goblin must have taken them and they set out on a journey to find him. But what will they do when they find the Night Goblin?"We stay brave," said JuliusI loved the story of friendship, creativity, imagination, and facing your fears. The story is charming and beautifully illustrated. It has delightful characters and a subtle lesson of facing your fears.

Cute story!
Cute little story that we've been reading to our son since he was about 6 months old. Text is short enough to keep his attention and the illustrations are adorable. If you're into positive messages for your kids, I'd say this story is good for the imagination, facing fears, and being inclusive to new friends.

Delightfully Illustrated, Gently Told Story
You can tell first-time author Annelouise Mahoney has a background animation with "Julius and Macy: A Very Brave Night," an ever so gentle adventure tale for the small tykes that is beautifully illustrated and told with a fairy tale whimsy that speaks up to younger children in a rather delightful way.Julius and Macy are young friends of the forest, in other words creatures, who love to play their fantasy adventure game in the forest. They are heroes, Julius bold and brave while Macy is kind and curious. One night during their adventure, their snacks go missing and they quickly determine it must've been the dastardly Night Goblin. So, off they go after the Night Goblin and to find their snacks!Having ready the book in a Kindle format, I must say this is a book I'd prefer to have in my hands. The Kindle format typeset in this case is a bit wonky against Mahoney's wonderful illustrations and at times I had a bit of difficulty reading it. While the text is simple enough, when you're reading a story to a child you want to read it with all the passion and wonder of the author's original intent and that's hard to do if you struggle to see the print. The book is non-rhyming, which I adore as I think it speaks up to children, and the illustrations tell the story just as beautifully as the words. The language is for the most part easily understood, though children who struggle with reading may have some difficulty with a few of the words. This is a simple, rather short story perfectly suited to children with little lessons about bravery, friendship, and the power of kindness. The vast majority of children, and adults with a childlike spirit, will definitely adore it.

A nice and easy tale
We all want to be brave and have adventures which almost always occur unexpectedly. Here, two friends are out in the woods playing and both have different definitions of being brave. When they find something unexpected, they have to team up with each using their different forms of bravery in order to have an adventure which has an unexpected term.

Was a BIG hit with my grandkids
Took this book as a gift to my 3 grandkids during my last visit. They LOVED the story and I would get asked to read it over and over and over! Think I read it to one or all of them at least 6 times in one day! It was a big hit! And I love the story which is very sweet with a hint of the lesson of adventure and being brave and going beyond comfort zones. And also caring for others. So glad I invested in this book. Love the artwork too!

Story is ok, not much to it
Julius and Macy are two baby animals, Julius looks like a teddy bear with the head of a badger, Macy looks like a mouse. They play in the woods at night. Someone steals their snacks. They go deeper into the woods and they find a baby raccoon all alone, eating their snacks. The raccoon apologizes. They invite him to be their friend and play. That’s the story. A little about bravery, forgiveness, and friendship. The illustrations are nice, kind of in a Winnie-the-Pooh manner, and it is a good picture book for young readers, though there is nothing particularly original about it.
