Gold Monkey 777 Straight Edge Razor

Wow. Great razor FOR THE PRICE. It's not shave ready out the package but after some light hone work and stropping its surgically sharp. Obviously it's not in the same league as a dovo but given the price I'm very happy with it. Glad I added this to my collection.

might not be a 4 star razor but it is surely worth 12 bucks. I honed it up and shaved a few times with it to see if a straight razor was for me, and it worked out fantastic. If you are good at sharpening tools then this is a usable razor.

When I have received the straight edge razor it was covered in oil and I had to clean it before I could test the blade, and after I cleaned the blade I tried to cut my beard but nothing happened! The blade was so dull, so if you're going to buy this razor I suggest you get a good sharpening stone to hone the razor in.

Nothing beats a nice hot shave with a straight razor! My favorite part of going to the Barber Shop is getting a shave and having my beard lined up with a straight razor. It doesn't matter how much money I waste on expensive disposable razors, nothing comes close to that shave at the barber. I have sensitive skin and get ingrown hairs easily, so I actually use a shave oil instead of shaving cream or gel. It makes a world of difference, with no irritation or ingrown hairs. The problem with using oil instead of cream or gel is that it clogs up the triple blade razors I prefer, and I have to tap the razor on the sink which throws oily globs of whiskers everywhere. It really makes shaving a mess. I've been wanting to get my own straight razor for a while, and give it a try. So when I was sent this one discounted for my honest and unbiased review, I was excited. Well, I got it, tried it out, and aside from learning that shaving with a straight razor definitely has a learning curve, I'm very pleased. The blade is perfect, and honestly sharper than I expected. Great Balance and symmetry on the blade, as well as nice grooves machined into the shank to get a solid grip on the blade. It's so sharp that I'm pretty sure that it's stropped from the factory, which is a pleasant surprise for a low priced razor. I would give this razor a 5 star review, but honestly the handle is a little flimsy. I don't think it will effect the durability, but it's a bit too flexible in my unexperienced opinion. It's also my opinion that this razor is a great value for the price, and you won't be disappointed.

What a terrible product. First of all, this straight edge razor comes soaking with oil. In the picture the case looked like a leather, but it's actually el cheapo plastic case which of course is also oily. The handle is poorly made and looking very cheap. And the center plug is loose. The whole thing feels heavy compared to my current straight edge razor. I purchased this straight edge razor at a discount in exchange for an honest review. I don't want to use it and too embarrassed to give it away. And it's not worth returning because I have to pay for the shipment.UPDATE: I decided to give it a second chance by washing it with dish detergent to get rid of the grease/oil. After it's all clean I was able to examine it further and found that the cutting edge wasn't honed nicely at all. The top and bottom ends have some bumps. If I were to use this, it would for sure scratch my face. I think I'll stick with my current straight edge razor.

I was not impressed with the Straight Edge when I first opened the box, however it seems like it will get the job done as good as most other Straight Edges and for the price it's a good buy. The package and blade are oily out of the box, which surprised me, but I am sure that helps prevent rust after manufacturing and I would rather have an oily blade than a rusty one. I like to use the blade for touching up my beard around the edges. It is much easier to shave a straight line than with an 8 blade lawnmower on my face lolI did receive this at a discounted rate for my honest and unbiased review.
