Great single burner when youโre in need of a stove top!
I needed something to cook on while my kitchen was getting a makeover so I bought this single electric stove burner and it worked great. It definitely gets hot and I had no issues with cooking on it. I always made sure to unplug it after I was done using it and I made sure there was nothing that was flammable near it.

Hot plate..
They suggested that it was used...I could see that it was repackaged and returned, but saw no evidence that it was actually used. It was in perfect condition. Working good so far.

Worked great for 1-1/2 years
Worked great for first 18 months and now it turns off and on while trying to cook something that takes more than a couple minutes. Buy the warranty!

Slimline, Aesthetically Pleasing, and Efficient Electric Stove
It has only been a few days, since I have been using this electric stove; however, it works very well. I also like the fact that it is light weight, portable, and does not take too much space. I only wish the knobs were not as protruding, but, at the same time, I wouldnโt want them to be so flat that I would have to struggle to operate them. It also looks very nice!

Works well but read instructions carefully
The stove I inherited from the previous tenant died a while ago, and my landlord doesn't repace appliances, so I was cooking with a beat up hotplate from a charity shop. The element in the main burner stopped working, so I found this reasonably priced ($19) Proctor Silex one. I like to buy U.S.-made products but who knows if it was made here, right? (It's delivered by UPS.) It's a bit flimsy, but I've cooked all kinds of things for a week, now, and it functions well. One burner is 1000 watts, the other is 1100 watts. The instructions say not to use other high wattage things on the same circuit when you're cooking. And not to use more than 60 minutes within a 2-hr period. Maybe it will overheat the element? It has a very short cord, apparently so you avoid tripping on it, but that means you need to put this near a plug at the same height as the hotplate, but not closer than 4 inches to anything else. I barely reached my plug. (BTW, the old stove is disconnected.) There are no temp settings, so you have to figure out how far up to turn the knob for whatever you're cooking. If you start halfway and gradually increase, you're less likely to burn the food. See my video.

If you want dependability, donโt buy this.
If you have to use this daily, donโt bother. If you want dependability, donโt count on this one. This is my only stove so I must use it daily. Itโs not consistent as far as temperature. Itโs a cheap coil that works when it feels like it. Iโve tried several and none of them work consistently. It has a warranty if you feel like paying to mail it back. Youโll pay almost as much as you paid to buy it if you send it back. Cleaning it is next to impossible. And if anything ever spills over, you canโt clean it at all, either under the coil or on the outside. I try to keep things clean but this one just wonโt work. Another con is that when you plug it in, the power light goes on. That may sound nice but you canโt tell whether the unit is actually on/heating or just plugged in. In other words, if the unit is off but plugged in, the light stays on. It would be much better to have a light go on when you actually turn the unit on. Iโll be looking for something better that will last more than a few months. I would say you get what you pay for but with this, you donโt. It wouldnโt be worth five dollars at a thrift store.

Works, But The Thermostat Is Wrong
This burner has a thermostat timer that doesn't work well. The coil heats quickly and will get hot. Unfortunately it won't remain on. The unit has a thermostat or timer that turns the burner completely off. It remains off for too long. Which means if you are using this for anything more than heating a single 15 ounce can of some kind of food, you will be disappointed. Don't use this for cooking. Use it for heating something that only takes five or so minutes. I use this burner with a 2 liter pressure cooker for cooking rice. It also has been used to cook spaghetti. I also use it with a smaller 1.5 liter pot to heat canned foods. While cooking spaghetti for one person, it will boil the water. A minute or so after the spaghetti is put into the pot, it will turn off for a minute. Just as the water boil is ending it will come on again. If this were a big pot it would never keep enough constant heat going to cook anything over a long period. It works for rice because I use a pressure cooker. It will boil two cups of water and cause the pressure rocker to move at full pressure. Once that pressure is reached, the burner is turned off and the pot only needs to sit for half an hour to finish cooking the rice. Without a pressure cooker, I don't know if the temperature would be kept hot enough for a longer period of time to cook the rice properly. This works for heating things that are small. Don't buy this if you intend to cook anything that takes more than five minutes of constant heat.

Why this one?
For years I had wanted to need one of those way cool induction cook tops. Now finally, there was a need, but when I read the 1s and 2s reviews, this was the no-brainer choice for me. The complaints were that the induction cook tops only have @ 3.5" heating surface, and I needed to be able to cook my 2 eggs over easy just right. This has over 5" of heat coil, tried and true technology, and does the job nicely. Plus, the price is incredible, and it heats and cools quickly. The thing they conveniently forget to tell you about the induction cook top is that as the pot heats on it, the pot heats the glass surface as well, so it becomes very hot. My experience is that glass holds its heat. When is someone likely to be accidentally burned? Before putting on the pot or after taking it off? One need only remember to turn on the heat after putting on the pot in order to be adequately safe. The knob turns easily, so one must get into the habit of checking it is off before plugging the unit in.

Bad transformer, did not work properly
Didnโt get chance to use the burner because the 110/220v transformer that came with it did not work properly. Had to return everything.

Works well - but Jackery users beware
If you are looking for a sub-1000W burner, this is not what you are looking for. It runs a solid 1100-1200W constantly, regardless of temperature knob. It does work with my 1000W inverter but it does not go below 1000, so battery backup friends, just know it won't work with, say, an 850W inverter probably.
