Great illustrations and diagrams
A good book for most readers, but not a substitute for the ASHRAE or ACCA manuals. There are many good illustrations that go along way to improve understanding.Beware of one problem the book has - references to Heat Recovery Ventilators and Energy Recovery Ventilators are sometimes confusing. Heat Recovery Ventilators are simple heat exchangers the swap heat between exhaust and intake air. Energy Recovery Ventilators do all that the Heat Recovery Ventilators and absorb and release humidity also know as Latent Heat with an Enthalpy Wheel. Throughout the book the terms are sometimes used interchangeably. Page 4.9-4.11 does have an accurate explanation.

A good overview of different residential ventilation methods
A good overview of different residential ventilation methods, but some statements are really questionable, for example on page 5.2: "Twenty decibels is 10^20 or 100,000,000,000,000,000,000 times louder than the base unit". Makes you wonder how reliable the data in the book is.

This book tells the story of humidity inside a home and the challenges of controlling it. Along the way duct work fans noise and equipment that help us control humidity are covered. The polluting effect of humidity is an important part of the story.
