Tough to read
The Symbolism of Freemasonry is a collection of essays by Mackey where he gives his view of many things Masonic. It's tough to read because of the 1800s writing style and archaic language. I am a senior English teacher, and I had difficulty getting through the book. I am usually a fan of Mackey, but this read more like Pike wrote it.

Informative Read
Bought as a Father's Day present for my dad who has been a Mason for 50+ years - Can't wait for him to open.

Misleading title of book....
While the book describes the symbolism of Freemasonry, there is not a single photo or illustration. I bought this book, as I am conducting symbolism tours at my local cemetery, and frankly, it is completely unhelpful. The info itself is good, however. So, I compromised with a 3-star review.

A great early Masonic foundation text for scholars
This book is an excellent early Masonic text written by one of Masonry's early Masonic pioneers and scholars. Many Masonic authors have borrowed from it's pages through the years while compiling information on Masonic Symbolism for their own books. Buy it today and become enlightened!!! I give it my highest recommendation.
