The pattern doesn't show up as well as it does in thier pictures. But I don't think any of them really do. These are Chinese made, but they are extremely nice. Every bit as good as Japanese knives. Definately packaged like a quality product if your looking for a gift, they won't dissappoint! They are sharp right out of the box. But I've already used one enough to test sharpening. It was quite easy, so it takes an edge very well. Love the handles. Obviously, hand wash, dry immediately, bees wax or boos conditioner on the handles, as needed due to use. Care for the blade like you would any fine quality knife. I'm glad I gave them a try! Yes German is best says my husband, but I always liked Damascus.

Bought the 5 knife set 2 years ago. I really like these knives. They seem to hold their edge really well. The first thing I did when received was put a coat of stain (to match our kitchen cabinets) and 3 layers of polyurethane on the wooden handles. Also, immediately made a house rule that they are hand wash ONLY under threat of death (no dishwasher). I will say that the Damascus pattern is barely visible on my knives unlike in the sales photos. But they seem to be well made knives. Very happy with purchase.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: The Damascus steel blades are mid-to-high quality. Very sharp and packaged very well. The handle material is a very light weight composite. I wish the handle material was of slightly better quality, and heavier so the knife feels more balanced.

Loved the socks but date of delivery was well after Christmas. Was to come between 12/23-29 and came on 29th. Was originally to come on 12/12. Never do this again since this was a Christmas gift!

These knives are unbelievably sharp. The craftsmanship is suburb and the Damascus patterning is beautiful. Do not put them in the dishwasher. Hand wash and use coconut oil on the handles regularly to keep them looking like new. Note: They are expensive but well worth the money. They compare easily with any other knives available.

Super sharp! Not sure which I one love best! All the tricky stuff to cut made easy. Hot loaves of bread, overripe tomatoes, deboning chicken & fish. And going through tons of veggies in a snap. How did I live without these? I can’t let anyone else use them because unless properly trained, too sharp for amateurs.

My son loved these knives. They have been his go to for a year now. They are beautiful quality knives.

Wanted to replace a 20 year old set of mixed Henckel and Shun knives and came across these - based on the good reviews thought I would try them out - Pro's : It's a beautiful set , the knives are sharp and it came well packaged. Compared to a Shun knife they are lighter, not necessarily a good thing but the balance is good, and the ergonomic handle makes it easy to use. Reminiscent of a Ken Onion knife handle .Styling and ergonomics - for a $360 set is pretty good Now the Con's : The light weight of them makes them feel a little less like a "luxury" knife - but once again the ergonomic handle somewhat makes up for it , maybe a full tang would make it feel more solid. The reason for the 1 star rating is -the big issue is the wood handle - although beautiful - it wasn't sealed properly. After taking the knives out of the box - wiped it down with a warm wet towel from tip to handle - the handle immediately lost it's shine and felt rough. This is before we even used it - the handle also "stained" from the damp towel - probably from absorbing the water. This is a huge flaw as over time the handles will probably warp and definitely discolor, more importantly the handle is rough and ultimately would probably splinter. For clarity - we did not wash the knife simply wiped it down. We also hand wash all of our knives - no dishwashers. We know at this price point we can't compare these knives to a Henckel,4- Global, or Shun, but the basics need to be done well and not having a sealed handle is a deal breaker - we will be returning them. Another review also mentioned the discoloration after washing - perhaps based on the prior positive reviews this most recent batch has a serious QC issue. Should be noted if the handles were sealed this would have been a 4-5 star review on the product.

I wanted to love these, so much. They are actually beautiful knives. The Damascus blades looked amazing and were very sharp. The wood handles were beautiful and everything was packed very well in a nice box. Unfortunately, I did not even cut one thing or test how the handles hold up to washing. The balance was so bad that I couldn't imagine using them. They are not full tang and, unfortunately, the weight of the handles was not made to overcome that. The very lightweight handle and heavier blades made holding them extremely awkward... and I couldn't imagine using them regularly. Appearance alone would be 5 stars... but I needed them to be functional. Sadly returned them.
