'VERY DIFFERENT IN MANY WAYS FROM THE ORIGINAL WHICH WAS INDEED A CLASSIC' (THIS VERSION ALSO DELIGHTFUL)
This is 'Annie' thrown into the Hi-Tech 21st Century .A bubbly young girl 'Annie' (Quvenzhane Wallis) lives in foster care in a New York Suburb.'Annie' is street-wise and holds her own both in the neighbourhood in which she lives and indeed at the school she attends. Her Step-Mother 'Miss Hannigan' (Cameron Diaz) fosters a number of Children purely for the money she receives from theState, in truth she has little or no interest in them at all.'Annie' like the other Children in 'Miss Hannigan's' care have but one wish, to find their real parents. When by accident 'Annie's' path crosses with Mayoral-Candidate 'Will Stacks' (Jamie Foxx) things are about to change for bothof them.'Will's' aid played by 'Bobby Cannavale' who see's Photo-Opportunity's and favourable publicity suggests that 'Will' temprorarilylooks after 10 year Old 'Annie'....anything to win votes.'Will' is not sure about the arrangement at all, but takes his aid's advice....'Annie' loves her new hi-tech surroundings however temporary it may be and soon makes a friend of 'Will's' assistant 'Grace'(Rose Byrne)However short-term 'Will' doesn't know too much about looking after a child but see's himself as 'Annie's' guardian-angel, givingher a short-term better life style.............however, as time passes, who's looking after who, and who needs who most ??Not sure this could be classed as a re-make as it has many very different characters to the 1982 'Aileen Quinn' version but followsa similar pattern of course. It's many moons since i last saw the 82' version, though it's difficult not to make comparisons, however i have to say though setin a different time, this version has all the charm and humour one hopes for.Delightfully funny with songs to match.'Cameron Diaz' is suitably grumpy as the foster-mom'Jamie Foxx' plays a delighfull role as the reluctant guardian who gradually warms toward 'Annie''Quvenzhane' certainly captures her role as 'Annie' (She surely has a bright future)Features -* 5 Sing-a-long tracks* Deleted Song - ''Something Was Missing''* Bloopers* A Day on Set with Quvenzhane* It's A Hard Knock Camp - Auditions and Training* Moonquake Lake, on set !* Annie Trivia* Tomorrow around the World* Sandy Outtakes* Photo GalleryAlso Includes -* Music Video - ''You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile''* The Making of Annie* Director's Commentary

It is a brilliant movie.
I like the fact that it's more positive and more up to date. Eg mobile phones coulred people and advertising foster homes. Also the fact that the lady running the home does really care.

Wraps you round that cute little finger,
Other than some familiar songs it helps to think of this as separate from Annie1982. I would have preferred more connection with the old film but there you go.The young actress is delightful and an excellent singer. Jamie Foxx doesn't quite pull off the singing for me but he does play an excellent caricature of business man turning father figure. The plot is a little slow and the songs seem a little forced in places. The characters are not developed which is a shame as there was real possibility for Cameron Diaz as Miss Hannigan. All this being said the film is fun. The actors, directors, producers all seemed to ahve fun and that is felt very strongly. What kept me watching was the great interplay between Annie and other characters. It was endearing and she wrapped us around her cute little finger.Yes, the film could have been better but it wasn't bad.

Press play and enjoy. Great little family film. x
I actually liked this film. I loved the original but this film was fun. I was never bored. It moved along well and would of been five stars if I was not 43 years old and loved the previous Annie so much! It is a great family film and I believe updated for the children of today to fall in love with like I did with the earlier versions. The acting was good and the story kept in with the original just updated with todays kids interests of communication. Cameron Diaz was great as always and the little girl that played Annie was a talent to be watched. Great singing and the film moved along lovely. Well worth an evening in.

A very worthy film to the original!!!
It's a worthy remake to the original classic, you think it won't work but it just does. It's good to see they've made it different and not a carbon copy of the original classic. My 5 year old daughter loves the original Annie, and of course she loves this film also. If you love the original you'll love this film! It's a good buy and definitely a keeper and looks very good on blu ray, and I'm sure will it's self become a classic film!
