My step-by step - including a router
The equipment is very nice. I think the outlet that came with it was 15 amp rather than 20 amp. The instructions are very small print and the template is a little on the long side, so I adjusted it a little bit and made my own template so as not to cut the whole way too big - Now- in order for a floor outlet to mount relatively flush you must use a router to carve out a space For the wings of the box and outlet receptacles to drop into. I measured where I wanted this placed - - I placed pink markers on the edge of the house so that I could line up where I needed to place the box – so I could see these markers when I went under the house into the crawlspace - i used a drill to place the box where it wouldn’t be too close to floor joists. I drilled from under the house up into the floor from underneath. When I came upstairs, the hole was exactly where I wanted it to be and I used a jigsaw to cut out the flooring- and subfloor- just a rectangle- you do not cut the wing notches — I use the router with a 3/8 deep bit to carve those out - 1/2 inch offset would have been better. The kit does not come with screws to attach the box wings to the routed out subfloor. If you are not careful, the head of the screws may raise the outlet cover up a bit. Also, the wings on the outlet do not really match the wings on the box, but I was able to attach of the outlet wings through the wing of the box so as to connect the outlet to the box so it would not be jiggly - see photo. I also had to adjust a little piece of copper coming off the outlet that obscured the receiving threads for the screw that attaches the outlet cover to the box on one of the sides with a pair of needle nose pliers - The long screws are a little difficult to get started and screwed in – and the screwdriver slipped a few times – but I folded up the template and used it to cover up the brass plate so it’s not to scratch the brass cover with trying to get those little screws in —but all in all I think it worked out great

Custom fit
Installed this to replace a single outlet display outlet in our sunroom. Fitting took a bit of finagling but got it in. Needed longer screws to mount the box, but a trip to the garage junque pile fixed that. Now, the top brass plate is NOT cut for the outlet to fit into until flush. Outlet must be just below the brass plate or the screw-in brass covers will not tighten flush with the top plate. I received two black foam rubber gaskets and one steel plate/gasket and using these I adjusted the top plate to exactly where needed. Looks good and now we have an additional outlet. What's nice, is this box and plate assembly take a regular outlet whereas the old one took a unique, difficult to source, single outlet. So, just a wee bit of work and think-sweat and we have a more useful, and beautiful display type outlet!!

Close fit
Take your time and cut this out properly. It’s almost an exact fit of the cut out with no room to play.

This is JUNK
First off I am a licensed electrician. This thing is JUNK. Cheap screws that snapped. Wouldn’t sit flush with the floor. Cost me an extra couple hours at a customers house.

If you have floor outlets, THIS is the cover plate you want!
We had an addition built, which had 2 sets of floor outlets. The electrician installed the plastic cover plates (second 2 pictures). The covers were flimsy, NOT water resistant, clunky and big. We were not happy with them, asked for brass floor plates but he said they weren't available anymore. Both sets of outlets failed (moisture/corrosion) so I decided since I was digging into the boxes, I was going to get brass cover plates. This is an outstsnding kit. I didnt need the gang box but it is extremely heavy duty. The outlets are top quality. No back stabbing ports. Easy to clamp system instead. Very nice. The brass plates are heavy duty and have a rubber gasket to make the outlet water resistant. Extremely happy with this product
